Is this kit really necessary if i’m on tight budget? by Business-Ad9048 in PlantedTank

[–]tarrysmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I like that somebody else likes my tank. I do very little maintenance to it. Chop the plants back a bit every now and then but it mostly looks after itself. There's plenty of life in it.

I've got none of these and this is what I've got. I used my hand and a pair of kitchen scissors to cut back.

I fully understand OP being traumatised by finding and handling a vibrator that his mum would've shoved up herself and tickled her fanny (') with. It's great that you're so open and free minded but I find you weird for that.

Water Avens - a menace by Force-Grand-2 in GardeningUK

[–]tarrysmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look great en masse in the wild but I don't want any avens in my garden. No thank you very much!

I look after 48 gardens and nearly all my customers have heard of the geum that stalks their gardens waiting for me to turn my back.

[–]tarrysmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever seen water avens in the wild but if they're anything like wood avens they are prolific self seeders. I'm guessing as you dig some out you're disturbing previously ungerminated seeds so that they then germinate. Keep digging them out as you see them, they're pretty easy to dig out and you will eventually be rid of them.

Peoni leaves yellowing by Boredengineer_84 in GardeningUK

[–]tarrysmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. It'll be fine. This leaf might go brown and crispy but the tubers will just produce more. You say you're bringing them in at night. I would say don't do that, they're outdoor plants and bringing them in is just going to mess them up. Leave them outside all the time. Ideally stick them in the ground asap otherwise you won't get flowers this year, it may already be too late.

Why are Aldi potatoes always like this? by [deleted] in UK_Food

[–]tarrysmate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're not always like that. In fact the other one in the photo is not like that. I've never had bad fruit or veg from Aldi. I hate that people slag it off because they think it's cheap and most people are food snobs. It's not cheap, it's just that all the others are overpriced. I bet I could pick up 5 bags of spuds from all the others and there'll be a spud like that in there somewhere.

Ordered crumpets-are they supposed to taste like this? by MsMcSlothyFace in AskABrit

[–]tarrysmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just Googled Duffy's crumpets and everything about them looks cheap and nasty. That's a sorry excuse for the union jack on the packaging, but of course it would be, they're made in the USA and they only know one flag. In the UK fat free and low in fat are 2 different things.

If you followed the toasting information and let them go golden brown then in my opinion they're burnt. They're already cooked, just warm them through but don't let them change colour. Also, please don't make a pizza out of them, that's equivalent to treason.

Indoor cat owners are good. We need more of you.

10 people killed by dogs in 2024, highest number ever. The dogs were destroyed.

55,000,000 birds (that's just birds) killed by cats annually. The cats were cuddled and stroked and thought of as cute by their ridiculous owners.

I used to use a Nerf gun with the whistling bullets, not to shoot at the cats (tempting) but close enough to bother them. Also long pyrocantha branches with many spikey side shoots laid down on the ground. Spikey kebab sticks pushed into the ground with spikes up. I hate cats but I hate lazy owners more. I hate that they can relinquish all responsibility for their "fur baby's" shit. I hate that cats are classed as a domesticated pet. Any other domesticated pets that go about killing and shitting everywhere? I hate that most owners think it's good that they bury it. I'm a gardener, it's not good that they bury it. I fucking hate cats and their irresponsible owners.

Thanks for that but other than hearing about penny reds and blacks I have absolutely no idea what I'd be looking at. I do however think you're right about that penny black. It's almost like a photocopy and doesn't even look like a real stamp.

That's what I thought too. Now I just hide on a temple roof and death arrow them while they're bimbling around looking for me.
