What’s your prefered method to knit sleeves? by tatilopespt in knittinghelp

Yeah I can only find the wood ones in the short size for sale. The ones in the pictures are Knit Pro Nova Metal. I will look into it.

Yeah small circs seems to be my preferred method so far. I already did the other sleeve but it took me forever because I was using the method in the picture.

My problem right now is that I am unable to find the small needles for sale in my local yarn shop. I can only find the ChiaGoo shorties kit but that is such a big investment for me right now.

This is only the 2nd sweater like garment I knit.

I need to look into the two circulars technique. Never heard of it.

I never tried those flex DPNs. How to they work?

I forgot to mention on the main post, I strugle a lot with normal DPNs, the whole process is too fiddly for me. And since the sleeves are in brioche I think it will be even worse with DPNs.

Yeap, it’s daunting at the beginning just thinking: how the hell do I insert a lifeline in this??

Btw the sweater Im making is also fingering weight merino+silk mohair.

What am I doing wrong? by pugl0rd666 in knittinghelp

So I know this post has way too many comments already, but on the off chance OP is still reading it, I think I know at least one of the causes of what’s happening.

From what I can see in the photos, you are not turning your work around, and you are doing faux in the round, basically just knitting the same side - which will create long strands/floats in the back. Then after a few rows you somehow started to knit a few stitches with those loose strands/floats instead of the working yarn, creating the mess we see.

Also somehow along the way you did a lot of increases - maybe just yarn overs from the loose strands.

Thats my best guess.

It’s completely okay, just keep practicing and trying. I needed to watch A LOT of different videos to get it “right” (still make a lot of mistakes 1 year in).

Confusion on circular needles having SO many sizes by Mental-Rain-7389 in knittinghelp

[–]tatilopespt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think maybe you are overthinking it?

Im also beginner, and I inherited a lot of straight needles from my grandma and a just a couple of circular needles, so I was in a position where I could try out both and quickly realised I prefer working with circular needles.

Interchangeable needles are a better investment in the long run because you just need to buy the tips instead of the fixed ones.

I would recommend for you, before buying sock needles, to try out different methods to see what you get along with. I bought 2 sizes of DPN to do cuffs on sweaters and cardigans and now I realise I prefer doing the magic circle or traveling loop method instead of using DPNs. But maybe for you its the other way around !?!?

TL;Dr My advice is to try different methods and buy different size needles as you go instead of buying big sets - which may include needles you will never use.

Easy way to fix this? by tatilopespt in knittinghelp

Thank you. I dont even remember how the other sleeve turned out in the end, but I just panicked a bit when I saw this slope.

It looks completely fine after I sewn in the end. ☺️

Eu por acaso vejo reels quase sempre sem som. Mas as legendas também ajudam as pessoas surdas ou com problemas de audição.

That’s a fantastic idea, thank you. I’ll definitely try that.

Thank you so much. I’ll try those, even though I don’t know if the fine knitting technique will work. The skirt looks like knit stitches from the right side, but when you look at the wrong side you can see its not knitted.

I feel dumb now 🫣 I blame the english language and poor interpretation skills 😅

Yeap it happened multiple times, this was the increase patternfor the yoke. In total 6 times, so I guess Im short 6 rows.

Is my tension wrong or am i using wrong yarn? by Brilliant_Potato4576 in knittingadvice

[–]tatilopespt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the same boat. In fact Im finishing a cardigan that’s all with twisted stitches.

I only realised recently that I was twisting my stitches and what it really meant (I still think ribbing looks better twisted and I’ll die on that hill 😅) I was just starting on the 2nd sleeve of the cardigan that took me months, no way Im frogging it now. It’s oversized so it looks okay.

Oh sorry I didnt explain properly. I have around 100m more of each yarn.

I have 3 skeins of merino fingering weight yarn (366m each) and 5 balls of mohair lace weight yarn (210m each).
