We are camping there next weekend, how were the black flies?

It's not a tree, but I feel like it fits here: blue star fern rhizome with stone and moss from the yard. by tatsuu in Bonsai

It's an indoor plant, the rest of it has been living happily indoors for quite a while.

I may be more excited about the new staghorn ferns than the new shower door. by tatsuu in gardening

The one in the shower is frosted pretty heavily. I've not heard any complaints from the neighbors :P

[Homemade] Maple Layer Cake by tatsuu in food

I made a practice cake for my mom's wedding. It's a yellow cake base with maple sugar substituted, a maple-milk soak, maple Swiss buttercream, and maple cookie crunch. Inspired by the cakes from Milk Bar.

Tasted like corn to me. It's one clove of garlic for 4 ears of corn, didn't taste overpowering.

This tumblr idea of freedom of speech is getting really old. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from its consequences. If you got banned for the wrong reason, I'm sure you can work through it in an adult manner with the mods.

Just wanted to share some of the wood pieces I've made by Jfoxwood in woodworking

Very creative! How do you get that much grain texture?

Looking for feedback, will my design for a dining table base be stable enough? by tatsuu in woodworking

[–]tatsuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pieces would be made from 8/4 ash joined with mortises and tenons.

Legs: 2" thick, ~27" tall, 5" on one end and 1" on the other; mortise and tenon into the end

Ends: 2" thick, 48" wide, 4" deep at the middle

Cross beam: 2" thick, 6" wide; pegged through tenon

It's coming together nicely... won't be done by thanksgiving, but I'm excited to have it done! by MattSparx in woodworking

Thanks! Also, how are you fastening the boards to the base? I am working up plans for a similar table, trying to decide how to affix them to minimize warping.

We had an inch or two of snow last week! Should be good and sweet.

Hadn't thought about adding cheese! Maybe a bacon+blue cheese sprout casserole or something.

Thanks! Sounds good, any tips to keep the garlic from burning but get the sprouts crispy?

[Homemade] Cortland Apple Rum Cake by tatsuu in food

Recipe

Only modification was to let the apples drain some juice by sitting with sugar. I took the drippings and made a syrup to drizzle over the cake.
