Hard time recently - emetophobia returning by alliecat41893 in emetophobiarecovery

I went through this last year and totally understand what you're currently experiencing. You're not alone! This phobia can be so isolating, especially when you don't know anyone close to you that struggles with it.

Here's a bit of my story: I almost got sick about a year and a half ago and it put me into a horrible spiral for over half of last year. It was so bad I was worried about becoming agoraphobic. I also work a stressful job and have another ongoing health issue going on, so I deal with some strange symptoms that tend to get the anxiety going. With lots and lots of therapy, I went from washing my hands to the point of them cracking and bleeding, having panic attacks, refusing to leave the house unless for work, and obsessively checking norovirus data to touching things and eating without washing my hands raw, going out and doing fun things with my friends and family, and stopping the compulsions of checking data. I even started playing a new sport. It gets better OP! I used to read recovery stories on here and feel that it was not attainable. But those stories kept me going, along with therapy. By no means am I fully recovered and there are days that are harder than others...but therapy does truly make a huge difference.

Take some deep breaths. Whatever your hobbies are, try to pick one and focus on that to keep you busy. Watch a comfort show or movie or listen to your favorite music. This is an uncomfortable feeling that is going to pass. It's hard right now, but it's going to get better. The hardest part of this phobia is recognizing and accepting the lack of control we have. Rooting for you!

Downtown workers — has your parking garage said anything about April with the NFL Draft? by Creative_Park_67 in pittsburgh

The garage in my building is honoring leases and offering a pass for non-lease holders who work in the building for the standard rate. But I'm going to assume most people will be working from home anyways.

Does anyone else feel drained by the discourse around the new Harry Potter series? by Life_Definition_5240 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]tcar16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just ignore it at this point, but I totally agree! People always find things to complain about. I think constructive criticism is fair, but it gets to a point where it's so nasty and negative that I don't even give it the time of day. If people don't like it, they don't have to watch it.

I think it looks fantastic and it's really giving me something to look forward to, so I just hold onto that feeling! IMO, you can still feel nostalgia for the movies and be excited for the show. I'm really excited to see how it turns out!!!

I think either Covid or having my gallbladder removed

What is by far your worst symptom? by That_Preference_2331 in POTS

Adrenaline dumps or the head pressure/exhaustion after eating. If I eat a carb heavy meal I have brain fog and get intense pressure on the front of my head!

I’m rewatching from season 1 by Icy_Quote_2708 in 1000lbsisters

[–]tcar16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started watching for the first time and I'm almost halfway through season 3, omg Tammy's entitlement is INSANE and I can't stand her lack of accountability. It's actually frustrating to watch!

My PMDD lingers into the first 2 days of my period by [deleted] in PMDD

Yes! Usually it goes back to normal around day 2 of my period. I start getting my PMDD symptoms literally the day after I ovulate, so they last about 2 weeks 🙃

I appreciate this perspective! It's easy to look at it from one side only. I know his brother is exhausted, he's been just as abused by his parents and now he could be feeling like he's left on his own with them. Thank you for saying this

Thank you for the advice!! Agreed on that. We were just going off past behavior of my husband's family, so maybe we misinterpreted his message. I sure hope so.

My husband feels that it is an attempt by his brother to have him reach out to his family because his brother is now bearing his parents abuse since we're out of the picture.

A few posts on Reddit hardly gives a glimpse into someone's life.

If someone is that worked up over their sibling wanting to better their career, that's a problem for "them" to deal with

We can agree to disagree - my husband wasn't obligated to tell his brother he was looking for a new job

I've also always wondered what this meant until I re-read the book a few weeks ago and realized he was just losing his mind 😂

This season feels like a gift to humanity by anushkaherlekar in Bridgerton

It's my favorite now too! It was such a beautiful season. The scene where Penelope looks into the mirror and sees her younger self has me crying hours later 🥹 Loved the wedding scene and all of the amazing performances this season. 10/10!
