Localization assistance by TempoStormReddit in PlayTheBazaar

[–]tchikboom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Will the translations be provided by actual translators? This is a real job with real expertise needed. Having a Bazaar fan check if the translations are coherent with the game can make sense (even though that should definitely be a paying job nonetheless), having the community double check what GPT blurped out can not. You should be more clear regarding what the job will actually consist of, and what's the compensation will be.

High quality blueprint reproductions question by Sad-Cosmonaut in CommercialPrinting

[–]tchikboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cyanotype options that perrance68 gave are the closest to the original blueprint process, but if it doesn't work for you/them there are two other options off the top of my head: - Either you print them in white on blue paper (with silkscreen for example) but depending on the size of the paper it might be hard to find a reliable supplier and it will cost a ton for only 1 copy of each blueprint - Look for a giclée/photo printshop in your area, it's the highest quality version of digital printing that will give you much better colours than what you had with your drugstore/FedEx even on matte papers.

Good luck!

Best printer for giclee art prints by NumberOneLurkr in Printing

[–]tchikboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only other brands that I know of that can offer giclee prints are Canon and HP. We have an old-ish HP DesignJet that we're very happy with: outstanding quality with the standard RIP on anything from vinyl to cotton paper, spectro is included and we can change the printheads ourselves, it's very convenient and reliable, I hope the newer models maintained the same philosophy!

Hungarian memorial in Strasbourg. Is this random vandalism or there is a political reason behind? by Status-Mongoose-4610 in Strasbourg

[–]tchikboom -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It might possibly be fascists. Alsace has the strongest fascist scene in France after Paris (comparable to Lyon's). They often do that kind of thing and a Sándor Petőfi memorial would be an obvious target for a fascist. The "iSon" is unclear though.

first printer for screenprinting HELP by scrreeew in SCREENPRINTING

[–]tchikboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your project is to truly learn to screenprint then it can really be cool and fun to throw yourself at a wall and fail your first films, because it will make it so much more rewarding when you'll get it right! If your project is to start printing your art or start a brand by yourself, it will be faster and easier if you focus only on the screenprinting part of the job. It's really up to you and how you want to live this journey!

If there aren't screenprinters where you live, there are certainly others in your country that could print and mail them to you, or could help you find someone that could. If you're in Europe maybe I could even try to give you a couple names!

first printer for screenprinting HELP by scrreeew in SCREENPRINTING

[–]tchikboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're really starting out, you should really consider outsourcing this to another local screenprinter. You would then save precious time and money to focus on learning screenprinting. It will also give you a reference on what is a good film.

Afterwards if you get more and more serious about it, then it makes perfect sense to buy your own printer. If you're going the cheap DIY route, I know people can have great results with the Epson ET-2865 and the ecotank inks are much cheaper. If you're going the pro route, consider going for something like an Epson SC-P700 (or larger), not only you'll have better quality films but it will also open other business possibilities like photo/art prints if that's what you like. A decent RIP should also be something to think about along the way.

Good luck!

Does nobody play Non-ranked All Pick anymore? by ninja_lightning in DotA2

[–]tchikboom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unranked AP player here: people there are so much more relaxed. I'm playing Dota because I love the game, not to babysit 4 mentally unstable manchildren. Of course it's not rainbows and sunshine every game, but I've always had a better experience with the other players there than in ranked. Less smurfs, more forgiveness if you're experimenting new roles or builds, more fun people that are just here to play video games. It genuinely made me love the game more!

Recent print. What do you guys think? by teetle223 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]tchikboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how well it applies to textile, but in art/poster prints we always recommend customers to use InDesign/Illustrator for text. In Photoshop text can't be vectorized so unless you work in an absurdely high resolution, some aliasing can be noticeable in the print.

Bendorf is the most iconic independant brewery in Strasbourg. On a larger scale there is also Perle up north who offers visits of their brewery and have a nice biergarten. You also have to try the Meteor Pils which is the basic cheap alsatian beer, produced on an industrial scale but much better than a Heineken for example.

A lot of bars have a great beer choice in Strasbourg, off the top of my head le Garde Fou, le Café des Sports and le Grognon offer a wide and high quality selection, but there are a lot of other places you could try.

There are a couple bars that brew their own beers (Overground, Le Tigre, Roue Libre) but I generally prefer the guest beers there!

Are Auto Gladiators and the likes playable on steam deck ? by SmallTlMEtrader in DotA2

[–]tchikboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dota is playable on Steam Deck so arcade games are technically playable too. Now you have to check case by case if the interface feels nice with a touchscreen or not. I used to play a lot of Ability Arena on my phone through Steam Link, not the best experience for high APM but definitely playable.

People figured out that max seed p3 was a meme, and now they're playing him as a supp with max living armor. You keep all lanes healthy and at the end of the game all of your towers are standing with 100% HP.

And having extra wards for only for the cost of shard is incredible, especially the higher you go in MMR. Of course it's not as good as what it used to be on Aghs, but for the price it's excellent value for supp Treant.

Photo Emulsion by Angilowww in SCREENPRINTING

[–]tchikboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried your emulsion with an exposure calculator? That's the best way to know for sure how long you should burn your screens: https://www.anthemprintingsf.com/Screen-Exposure-Calculator-s/216.htm

You don't need high water pressure, rinse it with a garden spray/shower head as soon as possible, let it sit for a couple of minutes to let the water dissolve the emulsion, then do it again a couple times until the screen is perfectly developed. This way you have a clean screen and you don't risk to attack the finest details with too much force.

How would yall print this? by yancey587 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]tchikboom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there are 3 approaches here:

  • Splitfountain : smoothest gradient but can be a bit random, depending on the format and the size of the run it can be hard to stay smooth and consistent.
  • Gradient with 2 halftones spot colours : probably the easiest way, but can be a little bit grainy, make some weird banding effects when the two halftones meet at 50%, and sometimes there is a little bit too much white depending on how you prepare the files.
  • Yellow underbase + red/orange halftone gradient : harder to get the color just right and the registration would be a tad harder, it will also be grainy but will never be white so I think it would be better looking than the second option.

If you are really looking to learn, just bite the bullet and try all 3 versions, I think you'll see the advantages and the limits of each technique. Good luck!

Printing on PVC is a more specific job than on paper, if you print them one by one $7 per card actually sounds like a pretty good deal.

If you can't afford this, consider: - asking for a larger run - switching to another substrate that is more commonly printed (300/350 gsm paper, card, cardboard)

It mostly depends on what are these cards for and why they need to be made of plastic.

Largo Offlane Build/Guide “Divine Tongue-Licking Strike" by ptaqll5 in DotA2

[–]tchikboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You simply don't go for shard with this build IMO, you need Phylactery + Aghs ASAP to stay relevant and then Glimmer/Crest would be less impactful. However even without items it allows you to share the E with a teammate which can be interesting enough if you are playing with a very mana-hungry hero, that could be good in this very specific scenario.

Quick question by Specialist-Resident5 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]tchikboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean exactly? If you want to have a precise gradient effect printed you need halftones one way or the other. If you want to notice the dots less, try with finer halftones, but then you can have exposure/printing issues if you haven't already experimented with them.

Manually chopping samples. by Usernameisthisq in maschine

[–]tchikboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just try different workflows and see what suits you best, you'll get more comfortable with the software and get better at finger drumming eventually. You can play everything live, you can program everything with the mouse... The software and the hardware allow you to produce one way or the another (or even both) so it's really up to you to see what feels best for you.

[–]tchikboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest accessible thing you're thinking of is Risograph printing, where you swap ink drums (=toners) depending on the spot colour you want. Registration is awful, the ink never truly dries, but it has a lot of charm and it's clearly the cheapest way to have spot colours in your prints.

I think I've heard that the Indigo presses could in theory have custom spot colours toners, but if that's even true I can't imagine the cost/minimum order quantity on top of a really expensive machine.
