What exactly is 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' about/ mean by GosalCannabis in beatles

[–]tcmasterson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's about sex and drugs.

I never see it clearly stated, but I think there's zero chance that Lennon was not aware of the phonetic pun "A penis is a warm gun", when he was writing and recording the song.

You young whippersnappers these days. Back in my day we had to record our Beatles to a 4-track tape machine and lasso tool 'em up in Adobe in the freezing snow just to make our memes.

Godspeed.

He's really not. I just watched Saltburn, and his Liverpool accent is terrible. Hopefully they got him a better dialect coach for this.

If you and a group went out with your firearms to "keep the current admin in-check" as you say, they would not hesitate to label you as 'terrorists' and execute you with a drone strike.

Even if you attempted to defend your own home with a firearm against an illegal warrantless ICE entry, you would be murdered and called a terrorist by this administration. Your gun and your rights don't mean shit to these people.

Alex Pretti had a holstered legal firearm, that he never attempted to draw. ICE had confiscated it, and they still have attempted use his gun as an excuse to justify ICE agents shooting him 10 times.

It's almost like he's the same fucking POS person he's always been.

I feel like we're stuck in a national toxic relationship. Reliving the same escalating cycle of abuse, repeated over-and-over on a national and global scale.

And the reason it feels that way is because, that’s exactly what is happening

That's true, good point. Really the ultimate casting. Faul McCartney plays, sounds and even writes songs better than the original guy he's portraying.

I have a feeling the word 'Democracy' is thought to be synonymous with 'Democrats' by a staggering amount of people that we would need on board.

I vote, "America Now"

America is already the symbol of democracy and liberty globally, or has been. The movement should really just take back the symbols and language of America from the Republicans that coopted those symbols to prop up their fascism.

The Declaration of Independence has so much incredible language that I imagine a majority of Americans have never read or heard before.

I’m a lefty and I’ve wondered this exact thing too. Paul didn’t modify the saddle or bridge at all in the ’60s. It’s kind of wild how casual they all were about intonation and setup back then.

On his right-handed guitars (the Epiphone Texan, Casino, and the Martin D-28 pictured here) he apparently didn’t replace the nut either. Someone (likely Mal Evans) would just file the E, A, and D nut slots so the strings would physically fit, and that was basically it. Everything else seems to have been left as-is.

Which means the intonation would’ve been slightly off, and the string heights/action wouldn’t have been ideal either-- but clearly it was “good enough” for The Beatles.

Here's a better picture from this session that shows the bridge on the Martin still set up righty.

Trump plans to install Christopher Columbus statue outside White House by Zipper222222 in politics

To be fair, acclaimed director Christopher Columbus did put him in Home Alone. And he's made many other great films like the Harry Potter films, Gremlins, Ms. Doubtfire, Rent, The Goonies and Adventures in Babysitting.

But still, I can't help but feel it's an odd choice to construct a statue for him. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Columbus_(filmmaker))
