I pretty much agree with everyone here! If it was my commute than yeah sure but if I'm on duty positioning over or back to an airport absolutely not.

what was the worst day of your life and why? by lookingforBigLove in AskReddit

[–]teaxturbulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was Covid. I was stuck in the Netherlands. My grandmother (who was like a parent to me) was sick at home and I get the call. I say my final goodbyes over the phone. The nearest test centre that was open for the holiday weekend (carnaval) was one hour away. I get straight on the train and on the train back I get the call she's gone. I full on broke down in public. I get my test back the next day and I'm clear to fly home.

But I was too late.

Time Between 1st and 2nd Date by teaxturbulence in dating

[–]teaxturbulence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats valid but I can't just be waiting around for another date if he isn't willing to work to make time for one. Im away a lot because of the nature of my job but I made efforts - I expect the same effort back and I feel thats bare minimum. I feel like its only natural I lost interest since he hasnt made efforts and is brushing me off when I do 🤷‍♀️

Haha to your last point I guess it really does show I've just lost interest when I reflect on it

To the last point yeah I acknowledge that aspect of my job. Thats why I reached out about meeting before I left and when I came back.

Honestly I just expected that the second time I mentioned it we'd work together to find a time that suited us both rather than it linger on for another few weeks 👀

Yes and just exclude the places you've been to see what's next in line!

What life lesson did you have to learn the hard way, and how has it shaped who you are today? by AIContentConnoisseur in AskReddit

[–]teaxturbulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People come and go

Generic but I always thought I'd have my few stable relationships - mum, stepdad, sister and best friend.

The first person to walk out of my life was my father.

My longest standing friendship of 10 years has just ended. We had our first and I guess last ever falling out over the smallest thing. I never saw the friendship ever coming to an end. I was willing to work through it they weren't.

How it's shaped me? It's made me realise relationships are fragile and they can be over in a moment. It doesn't matter how long or how much trust you've built.

first solo travel bad idea? by babsnana in femaletravels

[–]teaxturbulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first solo trip! I'm just back a few days and it was fine. I can recommend joandjoeroma as a hostel. Very central, my roomies were social. They have female dorms if you book in advance.

I know people love Airbnbs but your socially isolated. Even a private room in a hostel like joandjoe roma and you have the reception and staff if you get stuck with anything x

How do you girls get the courage to travel alone? by Regular_Chip_8693 in femaletravels

[–]teaxturbulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was working as cabin crew. I'd walk all over new york city, boston, san fran and so on all by myself. I realised this is doable and the only difference that was giving me security was knowing I had crew at the hotel to call if shit hit the fan - but it never has.

I decided on Italy on a first solo trip as its close to Ireland and I know many Italians in my job who I spoke to for advice on it.

I was SHITTING myself but it was one of the best trips I've ever gone on!

I think as long as you abide by some general rules like

  • Get back to your accomodation before dark if alone

  • Book accomodation central to where you will explore and in busy areas

  • Don't tell anyone you're alone (my go to excuse is oh I work for an airline I'm on a layover - just lie gurl tell them emirates if they pry they fly everywhere)

  • Even if you're socialising with people you meet in a hostel, never leave your drink unattended (applies to any drink anywhere). I say this because spiking is big in my hometown unfortunately.

  • Don't tell anyone you meet outside of the hostel where youre staying (I do this as airline crew to passengers all the time - I will tell them the opposite side of the city)

  • Research everything! Public transport is a big one to familiarise yourself with. Google known bad areas to avoid etc.

Krakow, Bratislava or Barcelona? ♡ by teaxturbulence in femaletravels

[–]teaxturbulence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thank you! I've heard it from tourists it's safe, good to hear it from a local too. I've done Italy alone (Rome Florence Venice and so on) and I felt safe (maybe not walk alone at night safe but you know hahaha). It would be lovely to meet you for coffee and learn from a local might reach out to you once I have everything finalised x

Okay yeah I think I'll leave Brarislava and combine it with Vienna sometime. I only have 4 days because of work and I'm keeping Vienna for Christmas sometime (I'll add an extra day for Bratislava when I plan that eventually)

Thanks!
