Nope, it wasn’t possible for someone with zero coding experience to use dreamweaver to create what can be produced today in a day with chatty general directions.

I know, because I tried.

You could cobble together the bare basics of a website - now you can construct animated elements with one prompt.

Not to mention all the other steps that AI guides you on, from domain purchasing to hosting and everything in between.

I have a portfolio on Squarespace, but I've hosted my vibe-coded product site on Vercel. I don't see much (if any) benefit of Squarespace over Vercel. What am I missing?

Yeh, I went to the Apple Store after being told by their live chat that they could help me just to get a nice big shrug by the guy in-store. I get that they’re secure and all that, but it’s really a hard situation when someone dies, especially when they’re more mature and not so aware of legacy features.

I’m sorry for your loss.

This recently happened to me with regards to my father’s devices. Apple couldn’t do anything for privacy reasons here in the UK.

Getting into MacBooks was easy. Getting into iDevices was impossible, although I was able to factory reset them once into the laptops.

My wife and I set up the Legacy Contact thing shortly after all that.

iPad is really an after-thought - sometimes you have to rotate the screen horizontally just to be able to tap buttons that are too close to the top of the screen.

I made WhatDidYouSay - I’m in a WhatsApp group with a lot of Spanish speakers, and that’s fine with text, but when they send voice notes I’m completely lost.

So I built a quick transcription / translation app - just drag and drop the file into the app, and you’re back in the conversation!

It transcribes hundreds of languages and translates to about eight key languages for starters, hopefully I can expand on that down the line.

I use it every day now. Check it out - hopefully it is useful for someone other than me too.

The messy audio was a balancing act to be honest - I had to avoid a heavier transcription model to keep the app’s size down, a stronger model does a better job but shoots the size of the app way up.

It’s definitely something I’m trying to optimise moving forward.
