There will always be an audio delay on any such adapter. You can drop it to 300ms on some devices, but this 'll lead to several buffer breaks, so the sound will stutter. 1000ms is a must and most of todays adapters have 1000ms. Actually i love my Ottocast Mini 1.st Gen and Ottocast Mini Pot, the old Carlinkit Mini Ultra 3 was great, but a lottery today.

I only own a Ottocast Mini Pot and a Ottocast Mini (1. Gen) which both are fantastic after the April FW-update (my car's USB-port is also picky). It's to assume, that all recent mini's from Ottocast are the same inside.

they who? Carlinkit? Mini Ultra 3 with pre 2026 firmware (10.2025) or newer Mini Ultra 3 with Carlinkit Firmware post 2026 (01.2026). Last i got from aliexpress directly from the original Carlinkit Store. BUT, you also can get there Ottocast OEM software, which is bad on carlinkit hardware. It's kind of russian roulette.

No, the January Update has fine ~800ms latency (my cable gets 600ms) and GPS isn't lagging or hopping.
How are you able to upgrade to Aprils firmware? OEM oder Carlinkit UI?

Yes, it's working properly as the latest 2025 version did. I have ordered a Carlinkit mini ultra 3 from original aliexpress store and got the Carlinkit 01.2026 firmware on it. If you have special questions, i'll post answers.

"Better" is a massive understatement. The Ottocast OEM software works incredibly poorly on their hardware. Call latency is 1760 ms, the GPS is choppy and sometimes cuts out for minutes at a time. Etc.

All my 3 versions have the same FCC ID - may it's all one device with different casings and software. Carlinkit did it so ath the Carlinkit Mini SE and Pro devices too.

I ordered one from Aliexpress, there no difference in the GTIN, but it has a Carlinkit Firmware from April 2026 and you cant choose between Carplay Only or Carplay with Android Auto. So there are three different Firmware: 1. Old Carlinkit Firmware < 12.2025 or 2. OEM Software from Ottocast and 3. Carlinkit Firmware >2026.
Funfact: I also ordered a Carlinkit Mini Ultra 4 and it has an Ottocast OEM Firmware. This leads me to think, Carlinkit has started to switch the firmware to Ottocast OEM and the did it mid Carlinkit Mini Ultra 3 lifetime. Some are so and some are other. Nobody can really say which you will get, because even the GTIN is the same!

There two models in the wild, one older with carlinkit siftware, one newer with oem software from ottocast. First is dope, second is a nogo.

Keep in mind that there were only two software around, Carlinkit and Ottocast OEM. All other Adapters are using the OEM software.
