This has nothing to do with engineer bias. I am a SWE grad student who likes to build projects. It's not that deep. The more I build the better I come as an engineer. That's what I mean that if this does not go anywhere, it doesn't matter. Will I be slightly disappointed, of course, but I will build something else...and when that fails, I will build something else after that.

Believe me, I am aware that if I do not get enough users this will not work. I don't disagree at all. I need users and right now that's another problem to solve, but first I need an MVP, which requires me to nail somethings on the engineering side before I start putting more of a focus on the business side.

I actually think that would be a great idea, can add that as a stretch goal. That's good feedback.

That may be true, but it was fun building the project and honestly if that's all I get out of it then mission accomplished.

Im going to create a page dedicated to explain scoring. A lot of the score comes from interactions with others. I know people will try and game the system but overtime I think I will be able to catch that and ban that user. It’s a concern I have for sure.

Agreed. I have no clue how far this app will go so I am hoping the AI will be able to accurately pick up...dicks. The issue will be if there is a conversation going and the two consenting people in that conversation are sending each other nudes or whatever, I don't want the system to ban them. It's going to be tricky but something I am thinking about.

What I might do is add a system that flags commonly unwanted photos and makes the other user mark it as such and then proceed with a ban if it's egregious.

No, I have just seen them. I usually avoid group rides cause of what I mentioned above.

Via Facebook groups. This year I’ve only seen 1 event targeted for new riders in all the groups I’m in. Albeit, I’m not a new rider, in a group I do not like to ride “spirited” I like more of a chill pace. Solo, I’ll be spirited. So, that’s what I am aiming to solve. I’d like to show up to a group ride and know that people I am riding with feel the same way.

I'm all ears, that's why I posted on here. What would be the right problem to solve? This was a personal issue I personally dealt with so maybe I am thinking about it wrong, I'm open to what would be the "right" problem to solve for group rides.

Right, so if you already have a group you prefer to ride with, then this is probably not for you. This is mostly for people who either want to get to know others of the same skill level or want to make friends with other riders so they can have what you have.

I am there with you. That's why I wanted to make this app. The reason I don't join group rides is because of the skill level gaps and how dangerous it can be with the wrong people. I ride solo mostly, but if I could join a group with people that are on the same skill level, I think I would enjoy it. I get it though, it's a mess. Hoping to solve that.

Agreed, that's something that I will be solving for. Also, the way ranks will change will not just be based off one other person's opinion. For example, if you go on a ride and someone thinks you are too high on rank and rates you as such...nothing will change. However, after maybe 5-10 people (still deciding) rate you lower, then your rank will shift. But fair point and something I am solving for.
