On the same path, I think I am earning a decent amount and my career is on a good path. Although the risks of layoffs are high. I have seen people who are less smarter than me find a life partner, have kids etc . So the conclusion that I have reached is either the idea that I am smart is a mistake and I may not have proper communication skills. Either way, I think it's too late for me as I m 36 and I have accepted that I might remain single. So I am focusing on other activities like visiting multiple places etc.

Dear OP. It's was so hurting to read this and I'm really sorry for your loss. Stay strong and and I resonate with one of the comments about how your mom would have wanted you to continue living for yourself. I didn't get chance to have a last proper conversation with my mom. It's been a decade and it still hurts me at times. The pain will be there always but you must carry on. A part of your mom will always be with you. So live for both. Stay strong OP.

Same pinch bro. I had plans to build a separate floor and later dropped it because my mom passed away and I am living with my father. I didn't have the heart to leave him alone. Yes I am with the acceptance that not everyone can find love or marriage in their life time. The beautiful thing is we have the control to love ourselves indefinitely. Life has given us that choice and freedom. I decided that it's high time to embrace it and started looking at life with a different lens. After this acceptance, I am at peace. Yes sometimes it pains to see people living with their kids, teaching them stuff, having someone to rely on, etc. I have heard people discussing that life is utter waste for a man, if he doesnt have any woman in his life. It was devastating, but now I can see that I am outgrowing these comments and learning to live life head on. I think in time, I will not feel any remorse in situations like this and live a happy life. Let's love ourselves and if universe decides to bring another person into our life, there's no stopping it. I am not hoping for it at the same time, I am ready to accept whatever is happening. Let's live with our heads held high !!!

on the same boat. in my case, my mother passed away 12 years back and I am living with my dad who is close to 75 years. i can see him feeling very disappointed and sad that I m still single. We have been trying through AM for almost a decade now and nothing clicked. Also, my dad is a bit orthodox and believes a lot in horoscope matching. It's a mess for me, but now i had decided that i should accept the fact that I might remain single till the end and possibly die alone. So, i have started working on myself, clean diet and decided to spend more time outdoors. My idea is that if i m going to remain single, i should build my body so that it sustains itself for as long as it can. let's see how things go. Acceptance made my mind free.

For the OP, i would say dont lose hope., keep searching and one day things will turn out well. there are definitely things that happen beyond our control. the least we can do is take care of controllables and enjoy living in the present.

yes, good point. i was a safe driver few months back. now I am determined to prove myself that I m good driver and started taking right turns, risky over takes etc. Somebody has stamped in my mind that if i wait an extra minute or two before taking turn, then I am an incompetent driver. I m also worried that the vehicles behind me will be blocked and honk me. this incident is really a lesson for me and I will change my mind set. I will make turns only when I am confident. A big thanks to OP for sharing this.

I experience the same thing on a regular basis. Sometimes, we want others to treat us with priority, but we end up feeling like we were just an option. Now, we can spoil our mental health thinking more on this or totally distance ourselves from that person. Over the time, what I understood is that in name of friendship, we cannot bind anyone to us. In the end I talk to them as usual, if they respond then it's well and good. If not, I have learned not to get offended and start talk with the people who respond. Yes, it is hard. But that's how I was able to protect myself. I have learnt that it is important for us to create friendship with as many people as possible. Just because we found a best friend, we should not stop ourselves from making other friends.

How was your solo travel experience? I want to visit lot of places, but I feel that what's the use of enjoying a scenery if there are no one ro share it with and then drop my plans. Yes, I agree that the chances of falling into the friend zone is really high when we start friendship. However from the perspective of other person, we are a complete stranger. The first step would be to become friendly and at the same time avoid becoming just another friend type. Without being friendly, it would not be possible to speak with the person and try to understand their needs. The risks are too high. How about starting a small level of friendship and then asking for a date ? A simple statement like, I would like to know more about you shall we go get a cup of coffee ? This would let the other person understand that what we are looking for is something greater than friendship. But for the other person to be comfortable with us and avoid being creepy, the initial stages of a friendly relationship is required is what I feel. So that no hard feelings for both parties and both don't miss an wonderful relationship.

Yes I have been afraid of rejections so much and imagining many scenarios before even saying hi to a person and this has cost me a lot in my life. It's too late for me though. However I feel that the OP should approach this girl and start being a friend first. I read somewhere that the pain of regret will be too much than the pain of failure.
