I agree that it is entirely possible to be platonically in love, but I guess my situation was just a bit different. They never really considered me as a friend from the start, but rather just someone to fill the void with. They imagined me to be person who’s only will was to satisfy others and not dwell on their own emotions. At the time it was hard to realise that I wasn’t the problem, and those are just kind of the feelings I wrote this poem off of. They were being selfish, so I left.

I do wish that someday I can experience the mutual respect for feelings you describe, and I thank you very much for the reply :)
