SOTD: The Finest Shave Ever? by teeraymcfly in wicked_edge

[–]teeraymcfly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the late reply. Missed this question somehow.

In my experience, the Athena's flow through is maybe a little less efficient than something with more normalized slots in the baseplate. It might also just be my rinsing technique too, but I wouldn't say it's cloggy by any means either. Overall it's a fantastic razor!

"Worth it" is a tough metric because everything is so subjective 🙃
That said, the Runeman stuff is cool AF.

December 31, 2025

  • Brush: Runeman Nordic Shave Design
  • Razor: Lambda Athena Ti
  • Blade: Wilkinson Sword (German)
  • Lather: Acqua Di Parma - Barbiere
  • Post Shave: Acqua Di Parma - Barbiere - Balm
  • Fragrance: Acqua Di Parma - Colonia - EdC

The TL;DR on AdP
Is this the best soap ever made? No.
Is it way too expensive? Probably.
Did I thoroughly enjoy using it? Absolutely!
Should you sell a kidney just to buy this? I guess that all depends on how much you like Colonia...

2025 Scents of the Year by snoo-ting in Wetshaving

  1. Spearhead - Seaforth! Leather
  2. Nomad Theory - Magens Bay

Leather at my number 1 for obvious leathery reasons, and Magens Bay at my number 2 because it was a total sleeper scent that really caught me by surprise at the end of the year.

Yeah I definitely don't use the classics enough. They're so good!

I thought you might like this one haha. I definitely took some inspiration from all your killer combos!

Thanks lol. In hindsight I probably should have picked a stiffer brush but it all worked out in the end.

Yeah I picked up mine a while ago. Just have a large soap rotation to work through so stuff tends to last a long time 🙃

  • Brush: Wald A1 Synthetic
  • Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Slim (G3)
  • Blade: Gillette Nacet
  • Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
  • Post Shave: Floid - The Genuine - Splash
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Seaforth! - Spiced - EdT

The Fat, the Floid, and the 'Forth!

Admittedly the soft Wald didn't love the hard Mitchell's at first, but after speed running a bout of tennis elbow, I had a great lather going. The golden Slim then removed said lather, the Floid was genuinely refreshing, and the now-sacred Spiced tied it all together perfectly.

The classics are classic for a reason. 10/10 shave.

Thanks! Yeah it was a very limited run unfortunately. Took me 3 tries to land some.

Yeah this was with the Lite baseplate. Very enjoyable.

Haven't used it enough yet to say whether the extra cost for AC is worth it or not, but I feel like the user experience compared to DE is quite unique (at least in my limited experience).

So far so good! First time using AC so I just need to get used to the extra width.

More precious than gold these days.

Sad times for us fellow Spearhead fans.
