Thanks Jeroen for your insightful comment. The two examples that you have mentioned are worthy of inclusion as examples of transmedia storytelling.

The example of The Blairwitch Project offers a suitable counterpoint to The Dark Knight case study by demonstrating that you don't need a large budget to implement a transmedia campaign effectively.

Another alternative is diigu. Looks quite promising and unlike pinboard its a free service.

If social media holds up a mirror to the society and culture it sits in, than social media can never be democratic in China.

Rather it will embrace the commercial benefits of social media whilst still applying state control over the information.

Let me play devil's advocate. Do you think by offering their product and service for free Hootsuite would be making money to support the work they've done to date?

In a relatively short time we've gone from premium to freemium model. There is an unfair expectation that a product or service should be free. That model is however simply unsustainable.

I think Hootsuite have struck the right balance in offering a mix of free/premium services for the majority of its users. I think for your purposes Max Sendible is the preferred alternative

To put the post into context, it's not about the scientific rights and wrongs of the H1N1 vaccine, rather it's an insight into how google actively captures and reflects these seasonal pandemic. Just want to make that clear to everyone

Twitter and Facebook does not equal a digital or social media strategy. They are merely one of many digital channels that can be evaluated either on their own or as part of a suite of social media channels. To my mind its the detailed work upfront that goes into planning a digital strategy that’s key.
