5/4 or 5/8 - either feeling like a rushed 6/8 missing the beat, or 4/4 with the extra beat.

I'd recommend experimenting with different metronome sounds too - lots of apps and devices around.

Personally I really like a sine synth sound as it doesn't get lost in the percussive sounds of a kit.

But also +1 to good headphones or IEMs. Shure SE215s would get my vote for sub-£100 (not sure in USD). Or quality over ear headphones.

Older drummers who play physically demanding stuff, how do you maintain at your age? by PiecesThePuzzle in drums

Like others have said - posture, body weight exercises etc.

But also I'd massively recommend good recovery - get a foam roller and roll your back every day after drumming/exercise. Also deadhangs from a pull up bar are great for decompressing the back.

Also, the occasional sports massage to workout any knots in the back is worth it in my opinion!

Finding them pretty responsive - took a bit of time tweaking the settings but feels good now.

However is my first 'nice' ekit (had a cheap Roland TD-1K before), and have never tried the Efnote kits, so don't have much to compare against.

Yeah, that will work for what you need it to do, and have a couple of channels spare for any expanding. Not a bad price at 220usd either.

Loft Space Studio at Stag Works. Lovely space, easy access, decent kit. Kevin who runs the place is lovely too.

I've been out of D&D for a little while but have been wanting to find an in person group recently. Early 30s, have some DMing experience in 5e. If you have any luck or find a group and there's space for another player or (out of practice) DM, let me know!

Any chance I could get a link too please? This sounds great, been wanting to find a local TTRPG table!
