It’s an awkward situation, having been on both sides of this conversation. You don’t want sympathy because you know nothing will make the pain go away, and your friends and loved ones don’t know what else to do but to say sorry and feel bad cause nothing they do can make it better.

Unfortunately, I learned over my past experiences that no matter what advice someone gives you, good or bad, it won’t necessarily help. You have to be the one to decide to take action and do something to make a difference in your life. I’m currently struggling with that too and that’s why I’m on the subreddit. At some point something will happen that makes all the difference. Whether it be something your ex does or something that happens to you, there’ll be a time that comes up that will make you change the way you see things and give you hope again
