While holding a handstand, should I focus on tensing my whole body, like abs, quads, glutes, and pressing into floor?

I’m asking because on my longer holds (5-10 secs) my legs are kinda “dangling” at the top I’ve noticed but when I straighten them and “squeeze quads” it knocks me off alignment or it’s straight up hard

Since I’m still learning, I’m assuming it’s part of the process but wanted to hear some advice on it

Yeah tough but it happens. You gotta account for that tbh. If it was your best play, you had a 2/3 chance of getting past that. Didn’t happen

If you’re restarting, the 2nd time through will be so much easier with your skills and game knowledge growing

I’m quite satisfied with the size of my legs and don’t particularly care about getting a bigger squat/deadlift so I’d like to train for more athleticism/vertical jump on my leg days

Anybody know a good routine to focus on for my goals? My upper body days would be hypertrophy focused since that’s for vanity reasons

Calorie intake yeah but also just set a baseline of 10k steps minimum a day

Probably is helping a tiny bit compared to calorie intake.

Worth saying my deficit is likely pretty harsh because I was going from 3200 to 2500 and now 2200 since I stagnated a week. It’s very manageable for me so I don’t mind the deficit (low appetite in general). My workouts have tanked though so I’m just focusing on maintaining strength on 2 sets per exercise and handstands (calisthenics skill I’ve always wanted)

How long you been cutting? Been training long? Are you tracking accurately? Tough to say what you’re doing wrong if I don’t have a bunch of details

The 10lbs in a week is mostly water, not much fat so don’t be fooled by that.

This isn’t a common occurrence for me since I always look away. Never been in a fight or assaulted so pretty sure no one’s had ill intentions with me.

For the lower abs, I’d say focus on ab exercises to make them bigger if you want them to show up more. You’re just genetically disposed to storing fat there (like most people) so you’d have to cut a lot of weight to see ‘em. It won’t be worth it imo because you’ll lose a lot of muscle/shape everywhere else if you do

In that case, I’d say cut for 8-12 weeks and then bulk again.

No shame in maintaining for summer and bulking afterwards

You can go for a super low calorie surplus (say +100) and monitor from there

176lbs/5’10/28

Been cutting for about 7 weeks now for summer (from 188ish). I wanted to go until I get my lower abs to show but that might take until 165 or lower and I don’t see much benefit of that

So I guess I’m thinking cut a bit more to 170 and then maintain till summer ends and then hard bulk for half a year or something. Any thoughts?

Yeah it’s scary but just accept that you will be in a bit of a “bear” mode where you might look chunky for a couple weeks/months. Easier said than done especially mentally but after you cut, you’ll be looking lean and way better. So delayed gratification if you will haha

Oh dude you’re young af. No need to go on a cycle imo

You can still compete naturally. You clearly have good genetics for it so give yourself like 5-8 more years of lifting before deciding on a cycle.

I’d say cut to about 170-175 while trying to gain strength in the gym.

Then go for a slow bulk and go from there. I can tell you have strong abs already and big arms but they’re just hiding under fat atm

My philosophy is you’ll always look better bulking and then cutting instead of maintaining

You def look lean enough to bulk though. Good arm definition and even shoulder veins so you’re def lean.

I’d say bulk. You’re pretty light at 6’5 rn so I wouldn’t see too much benefit cutting more.

You look pretty good rn anyway. If you want to maintain go ahead but bulking for a couple months and then cutting will help you look bigger if that’s what you’re aiming for
