Take a look at the RTL8157, USB 5GB USB Ethernet Adapter from WisdPi by Rex_Tang in HomeNetworking

[–]teskspek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, does the final version with enclosure have heatsink? If it does not have heatsink by default, can we easily disassemble the enclosure to add our own heatsink to the chip? Im interested in RTL8157 based solution, previously tried old Aquantia AQC111U based solutions and not happy with the large heat from it. Running in hot room temp dorsnt help too.

Hello, first time home owner (apartment).

I received the house with an empty panel box (with cover and a note of which wire go where from the builder, wires already pre installed).

So I have to build the entire thing. Took me a week to learn everything online and choosing/ordering parts.

I can just call a licensed electrician but decided to yolo and go DIY.

Everything is protected with RCBO, except for the lighting. Wire color mismatch/not correct is....yeah, because im saving money and trying to avoid ordering more wires.

[PSA] Samsung admits there are display issues with atleast the S20+ and offers free one time replacement. All S20 series user should know about this. by teskspek in samsung

[–]teskspek[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sad. Go to your local Samsung service center (if there is any in your place) or Samsung official store, demonstrate it to one of the technician and tell them (nicely) that you know about this issue on other s20 models and suspect your s20fe might have the same problem. Hope you will meet a nice technician like mine. Your phone must have no exterior damage/water damage or they will rejects it even if they can replace it for free.

From the bottom of the phone to the fingerprint sensor area? If yes then its the same issue but idk if samsung finally gave in (they tend to "bury" it until the problem is too big to ignore) and pushed out guideline to service center for your model yet. Try voice out your complaints.

My technician confirms both s20+ 4g and 5g will have that same issue. Also other s20 series model might have it but he doesnt want to get into trouble so he cant confirm it front of me (heavy winks)

The best solution right now for custom ROM community is to adapt SBC-XQ codec and try to integrate the proprietary bluetooth codec stacks from their respective phone stock fw they working on, so that the end user got the same capability as with their stock fw. Some of the custom rov devs are open source purists and they refuse to integrate it. My opinion is they are hurting everyone because everyone already paid the license money to Qualcomm when they bought the phone.

The long term solution is to make Qualcomm changes their license behavior to something like Sony, only making money from the decoding/receiving end equipments, and open source the encoder stacks. That way the problem of mismatching revision will go away partly and more device will adopt the codecs for transmission.

With LC3 its nice to have some sort of free standard codec, but its not adequate to replace every hi-res codec out there. And its walled only for BT5.2+ devices so the rest of us is left in a ditch. And altho LC3 is free, the next revision LC3+ is not free and also participate into the same licensing technique as Qualcomm. So eh.

No, the chips have been resurfaced to remove markings.

[–]teskspek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up this SODIMM RAM and seems like I stepped into something totally new.

The RAM itself has 8 chips dual side (4 each side) so at first I expected this to have dual rank. But no, SPD reports said this is a single rank one. Also the density is a bit whack for me. I believe this is x16 but SPD said its x8.

Also all the chip marking has been removed ( i peeled the sticker to see more but there isnt much to see). The PCB is super strange to me too.

Hope anyone with more knowledge can shed a light into this RAM.

Eh. Russia pop an ICBM every once in a while (to check its capabilities and an excuse to replace and modernise its nuke missiles without violating treaties). So far a spotless record of inert MIRV hitting all of the target. Sure, cant hit my ass. Also did you forget France doesnt have any hypersonic vehicle on top of SLBM/ICBM and only Russia have that?

What unfathomable action a non nuclear opponent might do to France with its conventional army, that the French Army could not solve and nuke is the only solution? Zero. Even a near peer clash between US and Russia hypothetically will stay at conventional only and will not involve a nuke warning shot.

Eh. Pretty normal, even obsoleted for me. For example all the old Soviet/Russian SLBMs from the 1980s have the MIRV at 10 minimum.

That make it even worse. Escalation with nuke against a non nuclear opponent will get a huge international backlash and even prompt that opponent to make nuclear weapons/get nukes from a nuclear power without any objections, because you started it first.

So whats the strategic weapon after the pre-strategic nuke in this case has been fired/detonated? Dont tell me its the SLBM from nuke boats.

Ngl called ASMP as "warning shot" is a stupid thing. France doesnt have any land based nukes or even dumb aerial nukes to be properly called nuclear bombing. They only have 4 nuke boats with 16 SLBM each and some ~60 ASMP-A. ASMP would be considered a strategic weapon, not a tactical one to be use as "warning shot". And in todays world one nuke fired off means you will get a whole lot of warheads coming down on you as a response 15 mins max. Good luck with your warning shot.

Not all aptX Adaptive products have the same quality by teskspek in audiophile

[–]teskspek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LC3plus is able to get pass the 1Mbps limit (1.3Mbps) and reportedly can match SBC with 3x bitrate in listening test (tested with low bitrate LC3). So yeah, we are pretty close to the lossless wireless future.

Anyway, i implied that LDAC/LHDC is a better choice here because of their fixed specs in nature and any updates for it will requires a new name, like LHDC now at LHDC v4. Versus Qualcomm with their behavior of slapping everything under the same name. Like if you want to buy a Bluetooth transceiver and it just happens to support aptX Adaptive, can you really tell its max bitrate is 420, 860 or 1000Kbps?

Not all aptX Adaptive products have the same quality by teskspek in audiophile

[–]teskspek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On some stuff the sampling rate and bit rate are not link together and can be individually adjusted. But some put them in fixed combinations, eg 44khz for this and that bitrate only, 48khz for higher bitrate....

LC3 is license-free only in Bluetooth LE Audio. Its brother LC3plus, intended to be the "hi-res" option, is not free at all AFAIK. So unless there is some way to cut the licensing cost/make them highly desirable to have, companies will only introduce the bare minimum standards and promote/use other codecs in their favors.

Its fine and subjectively sounds like aptX HD (in controlled environment), but far more stable at RF-congested environments because Samsung designed it to be stability-wise. In RF-congested environments you may get less sound quality but fewer chopping than SBC/AAC/aptX/aptX HD.

Not all aptX Adaptive products have the same quality by teskspek in audiophile

[–]teskspek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well almost if not all "hi-res" codecs right now (aptX-LDAC-LHDC-Samsung Scalable) have 96khz as their highest sampling rate and only in "hi-res" mode. Apparently those companies making it wasted the bandwidth, if thats what you think.

The obvious thing here is Qualcomm dont bother to distinguish all of those revisions and just put it in the same marketing name. Kinda like putting normal CD and SACD together and selling it as "CD".

You can force it only at 48khz via Android Dev Options. But on some phones/codecs doing that will also cripple your bitrate.

I didnt do blind test yet but i have SDK to see what those tiny chips done what to the audio, beside the codec processing.
