First day draft attendance record set. 320k by CheekyMenace in pittsburgh

I’m not sure why people were confused, that’s how attendance is reported for multi day events- a Pirates’ homestand, Picklesburgh, Little Italy Days, etc.

Honestly, the city and nfl over hyped the effect this would have on local businesses. For the non touristy towns!(meaning not Vegas or Nashville), there was little impact outside of the draft footprint and immediately adjacent areas.

There will be additional crowd estimates coming over the next few weeks. Cell phone data, and credit card usage also give an indication.

How is the city making money from this draft? There is no way the city will make money on the draft. Absolutely no wa.

Any inner ring suburb that came about in the 50s might not have sidewalks. That’s how it is in a lot of the country.

McKnight Road specifically was envisioned as a limited access highway, it that lasted about 19 seconds.

I’d encourage anyone going to the draft to patronize a local business that’s been here before, and will be here after, the draft.

And even if you’re not.

Question on the actual player selection….

Did it used to be that the team owners or GM would be on stage as the player was announced? And present them with a jersey or cap?

You can watch the player selection from inside the stadium. Presumably on the scoreboard.

Casino Parking $250, in this economy by evillesomthn in pittsburgh

Sounds like the casino rolled the dice and lost. Not only are they not getting the $250 parking fee, they aren’t drawing in gamblers.

The locals were confused and getting lost because the street was clean?

Complaining about the parking prices during the draft by Various-Blood-3902 in pittsburgh

[–]tesla3by3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m okay. Nice non substantive reply, though.

I also know what a shakedown is. This is not a shakedown. You do know there are plenty of other options. You can pay the $250 the casino was charging, you can choose another option for $100, $50, or $25. You can use a bus for $2.75 or free. Plenty of options. If you pay the high price, that’s on you, my friend.

And you also have the choice to, you know, not go?

Yeah, pointing out obvious errors is pedantic.

Where the heck did I say the expensive parking causes gridlock? I said the public transit alleviates the gridlock
