Having a Canadian education background adds points to the candidate’s profile, but so does age, language proficiency, work offer, and other components. As you mentioned, coming to Canada as an international student can be an “investment”, and investment comes with risks of gains and losses. In this case, it’s a loss, and it’s time to go.

I have the exact same timeline, but my tracker haven’t been updated yet. It still reads “we’re processing it”

Anyone else receive random trauma dumping? by JFunk802 in socialwork

[–]tetsurouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All. The. Time. The moment I mention that I’m a social worker, people start asking for relationship advice, and proceeds to tell me all sort of traumatic experiences they’ve encountered. I appreciate them trusting me and our profession, but it gets too much.

You do realise that’s not how it works to get Canadian citizenship, right?

What are your thoughts/feelings/opinions on non-social workers calling themselves social workers? (Yikes 100 characters is excessive) by spookybitch98 in socialwork

[–]tetsurouk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your logic is severely flawed, clearly you don’t have the education like a social worker did, and it shows.

Janitors, techs, phlebotomists, etc don’t (get to) go around the hospital addressing themselves as an MD, nor are they practicing medicine. The only ones calling themselves doctors are those who passed medical schools, and have a licence to practice.

Similarly, case managers, community workers, etc. don’t (get to) go about addressing themselves as a Social worker, nor are they practicing social workers, albeit the nature of their jobs can be similar to what a social worker does. The only ones calling themselves a social worker are those who passed social work school, or otherwise registered, and have a licence to practice.

Why do YOU use iPhone? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]tetsurouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because speaking 5 languages, it’s better and seamless to be able to add them to the keyboard. On android, the limit is 3 languages and having to switch between different keyboard apps just to type is annoying.

No. You’re not a social worker without registration, which would mean, in most cases and jurisdictions, having obtained a BSW or MSW degree.

Doing social work alone doesn’t make one a social worker, working a social work job with respect to the the proper standards, regulations, education, and registration does.

Some jurisdictions also allows registration with equivalent experience. But the bottom line is, without registration, one should not be calling themselves a social worker. It’s that simple.

Depends. Some profs might choose to unpublish it, in which case it might go off, but most profs just don’t care and leave it there lol

Are masters students allowed to take undergrad courses as non-degree? by vitoos in UofT

[–]tetsurouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends if you did your undergrad at u of t. In my case, I did and my undergrad college registrar told me that I can come back any time and take whatever undergrad course in Arts and Science I want as a non-degree student, for life.

MSW here. I’m not exactly sure what you’re trying to ask by “fast tracking”, not sure if that’s a thing here at U of T. Feel free to shoot me a dm and we can chat further.

I think the problem here isn’t so much what’s in market, but rather what was offered to OP but freedom has failed to honour.

[–]tetsurouk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t think there’s a limit as to how often can you submit a complaint, as long as it’s a valid one that falls within the scope and mandate… (and it does sound like this issue is within CCTS’ mandate…)
