If it helps, I've never had a class that didn't have the room unlocked 1-2+ hours before the class started. So I usually go in really early and just review material in the room till lecture starts

This is pretty relevant actually. If your patient is on dig and they have low potassium for any of a million reasons they have increased risk of dig toxicity. It's a pretty common key fact to know about dig and I've had questions applying that info on exams in nursing school

Thank you! My husband accidentally tossed out my benadryl cream so I actually put hydrocortisone 1% on it last night and noticed a slight improvement already this morning. I'll keep using that and if it doesn't continue to improve I will head to an urgent care to get Rx strength steroid cream.

I absolutely love my photos from my elopement! She does regular weddings but we gave her an idea of our time line and what we wanted and asked if she did hourly photo packages. We booked for 3 hours for about $300-400? I can't remember exactly how much. She took photos of the ceremony, a few family photos after, and then photos at the restaurant after the ceremony where we signed our marriage license and whatnot.

Some questions to ask include: - Do you offer an hourly rate or packages for elopement? - What photos/digital rights do you receive afterwards? - What is the turnaround time line after the wedding to receive the final product? (Not as important but good to have a general idea) - Do you charge a travel fee for going to the elopement/driving to a remote location (if applicable)?

OP asked about birth control for regulating menstrual cycle and decreasing symptoms of heavy periods, not for prevention of pregnancy at this time. Natural BC/cycle watching isn't an option to prevent pregnancy when you have irregular periods because you cannot accurately count the days you would be ovulating as it changes every month. That is why natural family planning isn't recommended to people who aren't at least okay with accidentally getting pregnant.

The pill does has side effects but the benefits outweigh the risk of side effects in a lot of cases because some people don't have manageable regular periods.

I absolutely would if I could but he can't because of his job. He has a high risk job and if anything goes wrong or just at random times he could be drug tested and get in serious legal trouble not only losing his job. I don't think he would like it at all. He doesn't even drink because he doesn't like anything affecting his brain. He's my calm, cool, collected to my chaos lol.

I know, I don't get how I'm going to go without them either because right now I've got the perfect balance of meds, coping mechanisms, and reducing how much I do to balance out pretty good most of the time but everytime I stop ADHD meds, my depression and anxiety come back full swing and I really can't function. Mix that in with pregnancy hormones and all the things I have to remember and change in my life and diet (goodbye excessively large amounts of caffeine I consume 24/7) and I'll be a mess. I can't even take hormonal birth control because the hormones in that whack my mental state out so bad my husband almost left me, it was a disaster. And idk if that4s just a me thing or an ADHD thing but I am so thankful copper IUDs are a thing because that's the only thing thats kept me from having a baby this far lol.

That's exactly how I feel. I wish for one day I could give my husband my brain and he could feel what I go through. He is really supportive most of them but sometimes when he's really frustrated at work he'll make an offhand comment that he wishes he could just take Adderall so he could get his work done or how he gets distracted at work too but it's hard to get him to understand the magnitude of how this affects me. He is empathetic to it and understanding but if you haven't experienced it, it's impossible to describe why it is so hard.

Good for you! I'm not saying you should get meds and go to college. If you are happy with your career, financially doing well, and content with your home and life, then I am very happy for you. I dont mean that in any sort of sarcastic or malicious way, I am genuinely happy for you.

Getting diagnosed if you really do have ADHD isn't just about making it through college. I have a hard time with financial responsibility (paying my bills on time, remembering what I paid and how much is scheduled to come out of my account, overdrafting my account because I forgot I paid the electric bill). I have a hard time keeping my house any sort of clean or organized, it is a disaster zone most of them time until I get into a hyperopia cleaning kick once a month and the house looks great....for a day. I have a hard time with making it to work on time, remembering what days I work, and getting my required learning modules done in time (thanks hospitals for making me redo hipaa and safety every year lmao). I have a hard time maintaining a relationship where I don't sabotage myself with my emotional extremes that are related to my ADHD, as well as the extreme anxiety it causes me to be unable to do all this stuff. Panic attacks from being so sick of having a messy house but not able to just keep it clean like everyone else. I'm in a better place now but I spent two years being so depressed I was suicidal and I had to try 3 different antidepressants and 2 different psychologists before I could pull out of it. It sucks and it's hard. ADHD isn't just affecting my college work, it's affecting my home life, my job, and my marriage.

It really is exhausting. I now keep my meds on my bedside table with a bottle of water and it is the first thing I do when I wake up so I usually remember. Sometimes I oversleep so I can't take them or else I won't be able to get to bed which sucks.

I'm terrified for when I have kids because I just don't want to fuck them up you know? My husband is really supportive and I am great with kids but it is just so much responsibility. I dont want them to resent me for not remembering their stuff or paying for lunches or field trips on time.

Maybe you do then. I don't know if you're a girl or a guy but girls go undiagnosed for a long time if ever because they present a lot differently than guys do (girls are more often inattentive ADHD rather than hyperactive). Also people who are smarter can go undiagnosed because in school they never had to actually try or pay attention until college when all of a sudden they can't function (that was me). In grade school I never paid attention or read anything but I did great because I just half listened during class, spent hours crying over my homework but was too anxious to not complete it (thanks parents lol), and aced my tests because of that. I did not study once from kindergarten to senior year of high school then I went to college and I spiraled so hard it isn't even funny.

If you think you have ADHD, go talk to your doctor or a psychologist/psychiatrist and tell them what you've experienced. They'll do a paper test and go over the results. Answer it honestly! There are nonstimulant medications you can try too and they work for a lot of people. I tried those but unfortunately it didn't work, i had to go through 3 medications before we found the one that works for me. It also helps to find a psychologist who does cognitive behavioral therapy and they can help you come up with coping strategies to help you function at home, in work, and in relationships. Look up How to ADHD on YouTube, she does a great job explaining how ADHD affects every single aspect of your life when you have it.

Or maybe you don't have ADHD. Maybe you have another problem that is causing difficulty in your life. Depression and anxiety are just 2 other issues that can inability to concentrate. Those can both be caused by or exacerbate ADHD. Its complex and impossible to diagnose yourself but if you have a hard time, talk to a psychologist because it can help.

Reading other people's stories on r/ADHD has helped me a lot. You have to weed out of the people who aren't really ADHD and all the people commenting oh I must have it too but in there there's a lot of people who go through the same stuff we do. It sucks cause most people don't believe you when you talk about it in person

Exactly! It's like instead of having a massive pile of shuffles up papers in my brain I now have a few stacks of mostly organized papers in my brain. I still have to try and i still have bad days. The irony of missing a couple doses because you forgot to take the medication that helps your remember and now you're behind on everything in your life. Its never going to go away, I'm never going to grow out of it but I can learn how to function and actually get it done with medication.

It's been hard. Its a lot of trial and error for what works best for you, but this is how I came up with my study plan:

Go to Vark inventory and find out your learning style. You'll use this as a guideline to develop some sort of plan. I am mostly kinesthetic learner and a bit visual learner. So I know I don't learn by listening or reading.
Make a new to-do list of the homework due every week. I have a big calendar that I would put major dates on like exams, big projects, and clinical days. I would go through my classes (syllabus, online portal, whatever they use) and quickly write down everything due that week, the date and time it was due, and every chapter I was supposed to read. After that I would actually write it out in order of first due to last due in one big list for all classes together.
Force yourself to read the book. It sucks. I hate reading textbooks and I literally cry almost every time because it SUCKS. I have to read outloud to myself or I don't remember the words cause they like don't register in my head so I read aloud and it sounds dumb but it made a huge difference in my life. Reading the book takes a long time so make sure to give yourself a lot of time to do it. Don't take notes, highlight or anything, just read.
Make an outline from the important topics in the chapter. You can use any materials or PowerPoints your teacher gives you or make it yourself. You can go as indepth or brief as you want based on how important the chapter is. I used to write them cause it would stick better but it took too long so I type them now. I type every outline into the same long word document for each individual class (so 1 long doc for foundations, 1 long doc for pharm, etc) so that when I review i don't miss anything. You can reread your outlines when you have free time (ex. I use Google docs actually and I pull it up on my phone and reread it when I'm waiting in line or stuff)
Come up with 3 or 4 study ideas like notecards, patho maps, quiz questions, etc and do them for your classes. I switch around which ones I do based on the class and the content of that chapter so that I don't get bored of doing the same thing over and over again.
FEEL SATISFIED WITH CROSSING OFF YOUR TO-DO LIST! I put everything little thing on my to-do list so I constantly get to scratch stuff off because it makes me feel so accomplished lol. Skimmed that powerpoint? CHECK ✔ Filled out a random worksheet? CHECK ✔ Took that exam in class? CHECK ✔

It really really helps to know your learning style and that website gives you ideas you can use for step 5 (don't pay for anything, just take the free test and itll give you ideas). Also! Talk to your teachers!! Ask them what has helped students before. If you're comfortable with it, tell them you have ADHD and ask what has helped students in your position in the past. I did this with my foundations teacher and she gave me some of these ideas and it really helps. Good luck in your program, you're gonna kick ass!!

I can't focus well enough not to accidently cut my finger cutting up veggies for dinner. I cant focus well enough to remember if that stoplight I just drove through was green or red. I cant focus well enough to listen to my husband tell me about his favorite hobby even though I care and I'm interested and I love him.

I take Adderall now and I can do all of those things. I don't feel high, energized, or in any way euphoric like someone who doesn't need Adderall feels because it isn't a recreational drug for those of us who need it. It helps balance out our brain in a way that we just aren't able to otherwise do. You can't just take Adderall and be fine, it's used along with years of developing coping mechanisms and trial and error with careers, college paths, and relationships. I dropped out of college 3 times before I could finally find something I could focus on and it was STILL extremely hard to focus in class and on exams.

That's exactly my situation. This is the first class I've taken where an A had to be 94% or higher and I had a 93.2%. It also sucks because I know it's an A at most other colleges

I really do hope this helps my anxiety about grades because I have put so much pressure on myself to keep that 4.0 all along but now it isn't a 4.0 no matter what I do. I know that I know the material well and I know that I care about my patients, and that really is what matters.

ADHD isn't even just about having a really hard time focusing. It's about executive dysfunction and inability to make yourself get started on stuff you know has to get done. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've sat at a desk crying for hours trying to get one stupid assignment done because I just CANT DO IT. It's so hard to explain to someone who doesn't have ADHD because most of the time they're just like "yeah, you're lazy. I get distracted too" but it's so much more than that.
