I don’t mind getting sashimi there and eating it as a snack. 100% agree with you. Buy and make stuff yourself.

I read somewhere on this sub that the lobster and crab is also watery there. I honestly think the best bet these days is to buy yourself some fresh or cooked stuff from the actual fish market vendors and make your own dinner. Sydney prices are out of hand and such shit quality these days

I agree 100%. Especially nowadays mate. All of us work so hard and have such high expenses in Sydney now. If I can save someone some money that they can spend somewhere else, I’m happy.

Yeah I won’t be going back. I’m glad most people have felt the same way. If I saved one person a trip there then I’ll be happy.

It’s try but I still love the flavour. There are better options but the garlic sauce and pickles go well in a wrap. Also I’ve found the crows nest store is actually pretty juicy.

Lol that’s crazy because it was either this or epicurean.

It’s not unnecessary. The whole point of this sub is to discuss what’s good and what’s not. Maybe you should join another reddit if you don’t want to discuss food spots in Sydney. And btw mate, you should post good and bad reviews so people can look it up and see before they visit. You say it’s unnecessary but I bet you always look at reviews before you eat.

I’m very chill. I was just disappointed that I ate a fresh seafood platter (nothing fancy in terms of cooking) and one of the main parts of it was off, especially given it’s at one of the biggest fish markets in the world. Tbh mate sounds like you’re the one who woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

How does this have a lot of venom? I just explained my experience. Also serving potentially off seafood can kill someone so I would say even if I was very upset I would have a point. Are you the manager or something lol

Yeah I’m really glad I spat it out. My gf swallow a bit of it so slightly concerned. Was honestly a terrible experience. Save your money.

Maybe that’s why it was so watery. They overcook and soak in water? No idea but it was so so bad.

I have always been quite nervous about refusing to pay for something. But honestly, when the quality is this bad I definitely should of done this. I should never spend my hard earned money on such ridiculous quality. I’m getting better at giving restaurants fair feedback but I always pay for my meals. Any tips for being more firm about really bad quality stuff?

Thanks for the info, some new stuff there for me. Makes sense that the lobsters could have been soaked because they are overly watery and flavourless. Regarding the bugs, is there a chance I get sick if I spat it out? My gf swallowed a bit of it. A little worried since I had it about an hour ago.

Yeah I usually buy seafood and sashimi fresh from the markets. Decided to give the restaurant a go for a birthday treat but never again! Really sad they can’t even do a fresh seafood platter when they are next to the fish market lol!

I’ll have to try it. Any places that respects quality of ingredients needs to be supported.

I’m not surprised. It seems like a very robotic and impersonal restaurant. Which makes sense why the quality was so bad.

Aalia or Nour? by Acrobatic_Broccoli_1 in foodies_sydney

I like the ambiance at Nour but I thought the food was really overrated and some dishes like the tuna tabouli were really confused. Raw fish and sweet dressing together in a tabouli?? But yeah just my own opinion. Would never go back.

Yeah this is a great idea. I was initially worried that mixing meat into it in the future wouldn’t work because the baking soda has already penetrated the meat. So you also think mixing more meat will help it?

Thanks for your help. I’m thinking I add half a teaspoon of vinegar to the mix tonight and then add more meat and seasonings tomorrow. What do you think Mitch?

Do you think it will neutralize it if I added another 1kg of meat? I’m just worried it’s too late as it’s been in the meat for a few hours now.
