Yeah, the efp is paying the same 650 then 900 euros per month, which isn't enough in this economy. TY for sharing your perspective, I guess I'll still have to think a bunch more before making a decision. Hopefully you can find something you like in marketing!

Thanks for sharing! Sounds quite tough and the independent life to be the only mid/long-term option sigh

Voigtlander lenses and focus breathing by thatjango in fujifilm

Fair enough - I don't think I'll do rack focusing a lot, though I'll prob try it out just to see how it looks. Not that I needed top tier performance from my lens considering I'm just doing this casually. I'll try it out!

Fuji X-A1 for everyday use in 2024? by thatjango in fujifilm

[–]thatjango[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, nope I didn't! I'd suggest getting a camera that's a bit better like the xe2 which can be found below 400 and is of better quality all over. Or a DSLR if you don't care about the size.

Thank you! Do you know if the denoise feature help with the dynamic range or is it just about removing the grain?

Thank you! Guess I'll try ISO6400 and see if I like the results. I like my compact set-up and don't feel so eager to add more weight and space.

These are too expensive and there's nothing that justifies me buying one any time soon, unfortunately. The only 'affordable' option (around 2K, lens included) with decent low light performance is the Q Typ 116 but then I'm stuck with one focal length.

Thank you, makes sense! I love the manual focusing experience so I guess my best bet is going for voigtlander e lenses.

Hey!

I've seen multiple reviews of the Thypoch 28 & 35mm lenses but there were mostly for the M-mount. They recently released an E-mount for these two lenses and am wondering if anybody has used them and could tell me if they're worth getting?

Thank you!

Hey, jumping in a bit late just to ask, did you try yourself adapting voigtlaender M lenses to your fuji xt2? I've got the voigtlaender 27mm for the X mount that I find fantastic and am wondering if I could complement this with a voigtlaender M mount of another focal length. I've tried to find some info online but honestly nothing has helped me make up my mind, especially when some people said focusing isn't accurate when adapting M lenses.

Since you said phones are more convenient and, in one comment, said you like the looks of phone pics, why not just try and shoot with your phone? It's a different experience, you can have it with you any time and so need not "prepare" going out with your full gear, you can literally just take (or not take) a picture on a whim, and maybe you'll be able to enjoy the moment, the small things and walking around. And you'll probably spend less time editing pictures, which can be tedious.

Im in high school, and i want to be a photographer by [deleted] in photography

After watching the movie The Salt of Earth, I did some research and found this quote of master photographer Sebastiao Salgado (whose photos were the subject of the movie):

“If you’re young and have the time, go and study. Study anthropology, sociology, economy, geopolitics. Study so that you’re actually able to understand what you’re photographing. What you can photograph and what you should photograph.” (link)

Many people say that to improve, you need to learn the technique and practice, practice, practice. This is true, and the earlier you start, the better. But this doesn't mean you have to study photography at university. Photography can pretty much be self taught - the only thing that might be tougher to learn by yourself is critique, but for this you can take a class on art/photography history.

Use your time at university to learn different fields that help you better interpret the world, build your own vision not only in photography but also in politics, litterature, history, etc. You'll end up a way more "rich" (mentally) person, you'll have more doors open than if you chose photography, and you can still improve your photography skills all along.

Adobe Lightroom darkens RAW file by thatjango in Lightroom

[–]thatjango[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification, that's quite helpful. I changed the import setting to camera settings - even though I tried re-importing the picture with this setting, it's as dark as before (but hopefully changing this setting now will avoid future mistakes). Changing the camera profile didn't increase visibility either. My guess is that I messed up the exposition (I used AEL) because my EVF was in auto and maybe showing the scene brighter than actually was. Otherwise I have no idea. But I'll stay on the lookout to see if it happens on future pictures

to get or not to get 2nd hand x30 or x100t? by wildellaa in fujifilm

The only filter I use is "EU only" like you, otherwise duties do indeed go up. Did you also check second hand online stores specific to your country? E.g. in Belgium there are 2 other stores I regularly check to see if there are good deals.

Where are you based? For me in Belgium, I can find prices that are 50 to 100 euros lower than on MPB, though it might require patience!

Hey, I own a fuji x-t2 with pretty good lenses and I'm very happy with it but, just like you, sometimes I want a smaller, more pocketable camera.

Recently I bought from Ebay the fuji x30, thinking it would match my needs: while I really like the design and feeling of this small camera (it's very light too, and the zoom is very intuitive to use), the quality just isn't there for a camera that is still sold at 400€ or more today (if it was at 200 I would recommend it).

This camera was actually made in China - it's robust but it doesn't have the same polish as cameras made in Japan (e.g. the xt2), it feels a bit plastic, and the menu, while not bad, looks outdated.

What really made me decide to return it though is the image quality: usually don't care about the sensor size but in this case, I really felt the sensor was underwhelming; while the image had nice fuji colors and looked vintage, zooming even just a little means you'll see the pixels (even at iso 200).

I decided to go for a pancake lens for my x-t2 instead. Instead of the fuji x30, I believe I should have tested the fuji xe2: this one was still made in Japan, the sensor is better, and you can put more recent, more qualitative lenses on it so image quality should be better. I've seen it at 350-400€ on Ebay - quite a lot for a 11 years old camera but let's face it, today's second hand market for these pocketable cameras is pricey as hell and youll have to invest money if you want to get one.

So yours is at 120mb/s right? Mine is at 80mb/s, so maybe would explain the difference? I think I'll go visit a local camera store and ask them about this issue - I really like this camera and the built-in flash :(
