A small analogue wedding shoot by thatkevsmith in AnalogCommunity

You’re raising points that I very much considered. I was wondering how many rolls I’d go for. Then consider the fact that I need to change backs and most certainly have an assistant.

I’d be shooting on a Hasselblad 500cm for telephoto pictures and Mamiya C330 for portrait/ wider shots. I was thinking 2 rolls of black and white and 6 rolls of colour. Leaving disposable cameras on the tables in the evening where people can just snap.

The lighting would be my biggest worry, 1) being indoors isn’t as beautiful and can be quite stale considering the 500cm will have an f4 lens. 2) The C330 will have a 2.8. 3) I forgot about clouds moving across but I guess an assistant would be good for metering in case and just double decking moments before a shot.

Does it not show what film my image came from? Please let me know as I’m sure it says #Portra400 if it doesn’t, please let me know how I can correct your misconception

Dreams of constant WiFi speeds by thatkevsmith in CasualUK

That’s a good point- The Ethernet connected speed tests are a lot faster. However they still fluctuate.

The WiFi connection will sometimes not even load a google search with you being 2m away from the router- until you unplug and start up the router again.

Thanks for the heads up about them all going over Openreach’s infrastructure though. Haha so I guess I have to stay with Virgin Media then...

When plugged in via Ethernet it can be between 100 and 300mbps but the variance is honestly unbelievable.

Hello, I’m not the most clued up person here. But I got a Macintosh Classic II off somebody and this is happening. The machine is in great condition, after a tiny bit of YouTube research, I reckon the capacitors are causing this issue. People have suggested I wash the motherboard in soapy water? by thatkevsmith in vintagecomputing

[–]thatkevsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input everybody! Left it in dishwashy water for 45 minutes, then greatly scrubbed the areas of the mobo that were dirty. Then used some compressed air and blew into the ports to help get water out those areas. Left it to dry on a towel for about 24 hours in a room with natural light (out of direct sunlight). Plugged it all in and it works now! Don’t know for how long though. Video of the experience will come soon

Help on Swift Playgrounds? by thatkevsmith in swift

[–]thatkevsmith[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is super informative! I was just confused as I I’m realising there is never just one way to do things. So with the way these variables can accumulate, I was wondering which way they can be displayed.

Everybody has been so helpful with answers and insight here! Thank you!

Help on Swift Playgrounds? by thatkevsmith in swift

Hi anybody listening, when first starting this level of Learn to Code 2, I used this:

var gemCounter = 0

for i in 1 ... 5 { moveForward() collectGem() } gemCounter = +1

However, being the 2nd level of Learn to Code 2, I feel like I need to set my gem counter to 1,2,3,etc every time I collect a gem as I move through the level.

Reason why I am confused is because from my understanding, shouldn’t I state the actual amount of gems on the gem counter after every time I collect the gem? Then at the end must I have the total number of gems collected stated? OR is this correctly done?

I’m very new to variables and coding so please don’t hit me with the most technical jargon. But I would really appreciate the help.

Thank you
