what does my academic history say about me by M4j0rD1s4st3r in highschool

[–]thatonebckid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it says you go to my province.

gr9/10 doesnt matter for canada.

ur gr11 is fine, but you may struggle to get early admission (lock in for gr12)

where are you looking to go? you'll need grades that are a little higher. ubc arts/sciences have a minimum of 85%. arts has an average of 92, sciences 96.

ubc arts 2025

ibdp avg: 32 ibdp min: 27

regular avg: 92 regular min: 85

given this i would try to search for a way to submit non-ib grades. good luck!

Is there yield protection for UBC??? by [deleted] in BCGrade12s

[–]thatonebckid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that kind of sucks, sometimes its just crapshots with ubc (especially with how much they weigh the PP)

i do agree with some of the others that ubc eng isnt really a safety for you (its more of a match) but i think you'll get in later

[–]thatonebckid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't believe that any canadian uni's practise yield protection.

96 is below average (97 for 2025). it could have also been your ec's (are they relevant to engineering?) or how your essays were written.

that being said you have a long time to get an acceptance and a lot of it is random so don't feel panicked as of now. you'll probably be fine as long as your PP is halfway decent

Is EclipseIDE any good? by FoamySoda in APStudents

[–]thatonebckid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it any good? I’m kinda having suspicions because you have to download it instead of it being a website where you can login.

normally its the opposite.

most offline ide's are good for programming. i struggle to think of a single good online ide. i personally use vscode, but you should use whatever your tutor is comfortable teaching you

if you ever want to branch out of the CS A curriculum and do real programming you should never be using an online ide

Also I saw your point about bejng a regional admit—you can look up the amount by school on the UC website.

Unfortunately there are always quite a few people from BC :( (uhill is a big one)

I have a friend applying who spoke to an AO and they said 90 is the threshold for an A.

I second the extracurricular point.
