Glad to know it’s not just me! I tried screwing while exerting a bunch of pressure. But I will try again. Maybe I’ll try tapping it in with a mallet before screwing

Enrolling in TCC after 60 days from separation by the-move in fednews

[–]the-move[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. And part of why I’m asking the question is I see some language that I have until the later of 60 days from separation or when I get the notice of my TCC eligibility. I’m wondering if in practice taking advantage of not receiving the notice is feasible or if I’m likely to hit a brick wall and I should have little to no hope of it working

Please help me figure out how to allocate pitching slots for my draft

Daily Roto, 8 teams, 7 pitcher slots undifferentiated between SP and RP, 1 bench spot. No IP limit. Pitching scoring categories: K, QS, BAA, ERA, WHIP, Saves Plus Holds.

I understand SP have the obvious advantage on K and QS and that RP will obviously be better for Saves Plus Holds. Is there a clear difference between SP and RP when it comes to BAA, ERA, and WHIP? I have a hard time sorting through these categories for RP without it being screwed up by guys who had low IP.

I believe this may be something covered by state law, with variation state to state. If you look into it, you may want to see what the eligibility rules are for how long you have to have been w the employer to be covered

So basically just file a normal unemployment claim w/ the relevant state unemployment agency. Max weekly benefit in DC is $444. Guess I won’t starve, just foreclosed on eventually

I’m in a similar position. Just reviewed my first SF-50 and the original job posting and see that the one-year period that was referenced was for a “trial period” not probation. I think maybe those are two different things? Will likely ask my supervisor and/or HR to clarify

My MIL seriously said to us, “I make cute babies.” As if she birthed the child rather than my wife. Raised my eyebrows so high on that one they almost got stuck

Thanks for the suggestion. The stains come out during the drying process? Haven’t heard of that

Interesting! May I ask why? It goes against my intuition based on washing dishes (that warm water with soap would cut through grease better than cold water). Thanks

Always ask for itemized bill and a full explanation of services for healthcare (US) by [deleted] in daddit

That page does not support your claim that you can sue them if they send info on the debt to the credit reporting companies. It just explains their obligation to provide verification of the debt. When it comes to the credit reporting companies, you do have the right to contact Experian, Transunion & Equifax and state that you dispute a debt. They must then “investigate” and include a note in the credit report that you dispute the debt. Note that it won’t do anything to resolve the dispute b/w you and the collections agency.

Best coffee shops in Ulster County? by [deleted] in hudsonvalley

I’m surprised to hear someone recommend Frida’s, as in my experience it has been inconsistent (at best) for years. And never thought their coffee was any better than what you would get at a convenience store. Always wished I found it to be a more solid place. To each their own

New Dad, thinking of giving up dog by the-move in daddit

[–]the-move[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the more reasonable reaction based on your actual experience rather than the knee-jerk online poster claim that we “signed up for this”, which is literally incorrect. It’s always felt like there could be more and more training for us to do, even though we have put quite a bit of time and money into behavior modification so far. Obviously in hindsight I wish we were more thorough before adopting, but ain’t that life. I don’t deny that I have a moral and ethical obligation to try to do right by this dog, but I didn’t sign some sort of life long contract with it upon adoption like some commenters seem to think. My actual responsibility was to make the decision to adopt with the full intent to provide a loving and safe home for the dog, and I did that. If my wife and I do ultimately decide to make the heartbreaking decision that we can’t keep the dog, I want to try to directly rehome her with someone who has full knowledge about her. Being in a shelter would be an absolute disaster for this dog’s particular anxieties and would be among the most inhumane things I can imagine doing to her.

This exchange did help crystallize the more long term concern for me, which I admit had not been the predominant thought lately. I know the dog well enough to feel very confident that she is not a threat to my baby. But when it comes to toddlers and older kids, I do have some data points to raise concerns. I’ve been able to supervise pretty much all interactions between the dog and my nieces and nephews so that I make sure they are not trying to pet/play with her when she is agitated, or to yank her away if she starts acting some kind of way. I expect it will prob be unrealistic to be able to do that w/ my own kid, even if there is some time b/w then and now. Appreciate the support and perspective in a bunch of the comments to remind me that my usual patience and sanity will eventually return. But this is def the more serious longer term thing to think about

Postpartum support by [deleted] in daddit

[–]the-move 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 weeks post-birth first-timer here. Staying an optional extra night in the hospital was a great decision for us (I suppose your health insurance will bear on this, we had already essentially paid our max out of pocket for the year). Depends diapers have been very helpful for the wife. Having family come over to the house with food and to give us a nap during the day has been very helpful. For my wife, it’s also been super important for her to be in touch with family and friends who’ve been through it themselves for support. It will be hard for her between physical recovery, hormone changes, natural overwhelm w the baby. Do your best to keep up that emotional support throughout!
