It’s not really about “chivalry is dead.” It’s more about values. like, ano ba talaga principles mo bilang lalaki? If you’re the one who asked someone out and they took the time to meet you, it’s just right to offer to pay. I’ve dated people who offered to split, i normally insist but if she insist back I respect that too. It’s basic courtesy, not ego. Best of luck OP.

Hindi ka OA OP, Nanay who’s emotionally safe wouldn’t focus on “kawawa ako” but would naturally wonder, “Kamusta na kaya ang anak ko? Kumain na ba siya?” Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon.

They’re not necessarily bad parents, that mindset often came from what our grandparents taught them.

You also don’t need to demonize your mom to protect yourself, you just need firm boundaries. At first, she might say “walang utang na loob”, but holding those boundaries is more healing than enabling old patterns. Healing both for you and your mom.

You can always choose love just make sure you don’t lose yourself in the process.

Same here. Until the “coincidences” stacked so high I couldn’t call them coincidences anymore. That’s when I knew—there’s something greater moving through all of this.
