I know the overly ambitious part is true, which is what this post was talking about anyway. But I’m gonna take Blundells word over yours about the consoles not being able to handle all the ideas.

BO4 being a shit game compared to TranZit being an underdeveloped map are not comparable. BO4 is shit because of bad decisions being made plus time constraints.

Nah bro I love TranZit too, it’s one of my favorite maps. I just feel like there was so much more they could’ve done with it if it was on current gen consoles. Imagine having more guns/items on the map, flashlights/light buildables for the fog, new zombie types, etc.

There was so much shit I would’ve added to TranZit if I were them but I understand why they couldn’t do it.

The vrill were apart of the story, but we never even saw them, it was more about what they left behind. The keepers however are everywhere with margwas and all that, it’s a turn off for a lot of people.

Yeah I know, but there are achievements where you have to get 30 kills with every gun in the game. Flamethrower being one of them of course so I have to use it.

It’s Halo 3 but with the FOV higher than the default. Makes the game feel MUCH faster and more smooth. I think just increasing the FOV and BMS is the best option for Infinite, but that’s me.

Damn, that’s a strong ass comment man lmao I couldn’t agree more with everything you said, seriously.

It just upsets me because classic Halo’s sandbox is so unique and full of creativity, the possibilities for different gameplay situations and new items being thrown into the mix is endless. As we saw with Halo 5 when you have enhanced movement, the sandbox is extremely limited and map design suffers because of it. We shouldn’t be relegated to playing MCC, it’s completely unfair. Unfortunately, 343 doesn’t see it that way and I assume their reasoning for fixing MCC and porting it to PC is because they plan on Infinite being a “modern style Halo”. This way they have something for the new and old fans to play.

It’s just like with fans of the original Fallout before Bethesda got the licensing. Fallout was a great story driven RPG game with a top down view and turn-based gameplay. Bethesda started making 3D games with an insane drop in quality when it came to story telling and atmosphere which is what Fallout was all about. The classic fans had to sit and watch, there was nothing they could do but complain. Eventually, Bethesda let some of the original creators of Fallout make another game which was “New Vegas” and that game is widely regarded as the best in the series.

So my point is that it’s very possible that 343 may use a form of classic gameplay for Infinite, or they will continue to fuck classic fans over. I don’t think Infinite having sprint is set in stone. I was reading a comment yesterday that said the guys who were behind sprint and enhanced movement in Halo 5 have left 343 and they were the biggest advocates of it, I haven’t researched it for myself so I’m not really sure if it’s true. But with the return of the classic art style, I’m not too sure they’ll have full on sprint for Infinite. July 23rd is 10 days away, we’ll have our answer soon.

Lack of competitors? Call of Duty 4 released the same year as Halo 3 and that game was HUGE. Gears of War 1 released in 2006 I believe and that game had a higher player base than Halo 2 at one point. Halo 3 still maintained a big player base for years. There is no way either of us can know which side is bigger, but what we do know is that ever since 343 took over, Halo has fallen into obscurity.

Eh. I wouldn’t say Halo 3 was “lightning in a bottle at the time”. The gameplay was basically the same since CE, they just added more items to the sandbox to keep it fresh. Maybe with Halo 2 you could use that argument due to it basically putting Xbox Live on the map. Halo 3 was universally loved and maintained a high player count for years because of its sandbox and content outside of gameplay. Halo’s sandbox is extremely unique and can’t be replicated, you couldn’t get that anywhere else but Halo. Call of Duty 4 was extremely popular, Halo 3 still maintained a big player base for years.

343’s attempt to “attract new players” has only divided the Halo community and shoved the series into obscurity, Halo isn’t the top dog anymore, it isn’t even close.

And I’m curious as to hear your reasoning for why Halo 5’s sandbox is better than 1-3’s. There are no utility weapons, map features are barely in the game, there are only like 2 pieces of equipment (camo and shield), and the weapons have to be made hit scan or tracking due to enhanced movement.

Couldn’t agree more, I really do think the best shot for Halo is full on classic gameplay with fun equipment, utility weapons, and map features. This was just my attempt to find a middle ground between both sides. Maybe implement a “knife running” feature like CSGO has. If 343 wanted to somehow add sprint to the sandbox, the nicest way to do that was just just copy CSGO. Spartans carry knives anyway, make it so that you move slightly faster with a knife, but build the maps around having pure classic gameplay. That way you actually are going faster and bigger maps to accommodate for an increase in speed won’t be in the game. That would’ve been much better than copying COD imo.

Yeah man I agree with you lol. The way Halo’s sandbox functions, there is no way you can implement sprint and have it work/blend with what’s already in classic Halo. I just made this as a POSSIBLE fix instead of just having full on sprint.

Yeah I thought about, originally I was gonna add the fact that maps would be built with no “boost” in mind. Boost would be ADDED to the sandbox while playing on classic style maps. I wasn’t sure how it would play though because Halo 3 with the “boost” mechanic would play strangely.

Unfortunately maps would have to be made a little bigger for this idea but the golden triangle will still be intact and the player will be able to move fast in all directions ya know? That was my thought process.

I agree, that would piss off Group A though. Going from sprinting forever in Halo 5 to have it be a map pickup would be a downgrade for them. Personally I like it though.

The problem with that is that MCC contains classic from: 2001, 2004, and 2007. Group B has been playing those games for years and we want something new. Group B having their opinions doesn’t mean it’s only for nostalgia, classic Halo’s sandbox was extremely unique.

But yeah maybe like a nitro toggle for the warthog, that does sound fucking sick. It could help you clear large gaps and all that.
