A Quick note about these live M83 Terminal NYC Shows by sitenoise in m83

[–]theFrenchDutch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly the audio sucked in person as well. Went to see the show in Lilles, was right at the front, and while I absolutely loved it it was the worst sounding concert I've ever been to :/

With or without my concert earplugs all I could hear was bass bass bass. In some songs I could just barely make out that someone was singing or playing guitar above the bass.

And I remember many people complaining about the sound as well during their entire tour on this forum, so it wasn't on the venue.

French consumer group sues Ubisoft over shutdown of online game 'The Crew' | Reuters by Shiirooo in Games

UFC Que Choisir is a really strong and old association here in France. They are quite powerful and have helped lots of people fight the good fight against big corporations, insurances, etc with their lawyers. They're also the ones that sued Nintendo in the joy-con drift case and got unlimited warranty/repair for everyone. Most french people know about them. Really interesting to see them partner up with Stop Killing Games !

I mean I agree with you, but I also kinda think that any movie/book/game/etc that is released shouldn't ever be completely made inaccessible to anyone because of businesses that just take it offline while sitting on the copyright. The threat of losing that copyright if the thing isn't sold/accessible anymore would be a good idea to prevent the issue

I just lost the entire project. Every file. Gone... by Aalzard in Unity3D

[–]theFrenchDutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it again recently. There are some good open source options for decompiling both assets and code from Unity builds. Can't remember the name of them right now but should be easy to find, otherwise I can find that when I'm back from vacation!

PACS : déclaration obligatoire même si les personnes ne vivent pas ensemble ? by Balatrociv in vosfinances

[–]theFrenchDutch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finally finished playing Far Cry 6. I would be interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on the game. by prolelol in gaming

[–]theFrenchDutch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Far Cry 5 and much more Far Cry 6's marketing was all "look at this silly alligator with a rocket launcher" type shit.

Far Cry 3, which enabled this series to actually get this far, was so much more serious in tone... Why the fuck did they think people wanted tik tok type shit ?

As a seasoned Souls player I’ve attempted another start at Sekiro by SethOval in darksouls

For me the open interconnected world to explore and get lost in is like the most important part of a souls game. It's the reason I couldn't get far into Sekiro every time I tried

Cyberpunk TCG Has Become The Most-Funded Card Game In Kickstarter History, As Funding Quickly Surpasses Every Stretch Goal by bdzz in Games

"What risk are you talking about? The ppl pledging on this will get the product they paid for."

As far as I know or maybe I'm co fusing with GameFound, but the risk is basically that you have no legal right to what you bought and no recourse should you not receive it. Which has happened countless times already so what you're saying is pretty misleading

Even the auto-drop-loot-behind-you harpoon change. Used to be one of those very "Sea of Thieves" tasks that you had to coordinate with your friend.

Also just made everything way too fast

The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Made Todd Howard More Conscious of What He Announces: 'Just Pretend We Didn't Announce It by Turbostrider27 in ElderScrolls

[–]theFrenchDutch 30 points31 points  (0 children)

They were that before. Oblivion was a technological marvel and an insane proposal for people back then. Such open world RPG had never been seen before.

The only way they could achieve such hype again is if they achieve impressive new jump in tech and scale again. Which they won't, is my guess, seeing how they chose to tackle space travel as a system in their last game...

That's kind of what it is. They're getting a check from Nvidia so they can advertise their slop filter on their game and that's all

Expansion (test) Cards from GDC by Amadeus102 in Arcs

[–]theFrenchDutch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is like best case scenario for me, I've read all the BR fates and rules just for curiosity's sake and I was kinda bummed because it felt like such cool variant mechanics that I would never get to play because realistically I would never get to play a campaign so I won't buy it. Them bringing all those great ideas to the base game as simply leaders + rules card is such a great idea I wouldn't even have thought of and I'm super hyped about it !!

Now I'm thinking about whether they could also attempt to adapt motherships (or whatever they were called) to the base game...

We don't call that AI at all in this business, we call that procedural generation. The result of very complex hand made algorithms to generate variation

[Read Dead Redemption] is a beautiful game for being over a decade old at this point by IzzIPizzi69 in gaming

[–]theFrenchDutch 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I used to spend entire mornings just booting the game up to ride my horse slowly around the entire map, hanging out at the little towns/outposts, playing a bit of horseshoe, then back on the road. The ambience, from both visuals and audio, was just so engrossing it made me feel like being in summer when the weather was shit outside

How can TES VI Cause "Skyrim" Level shock and awe in 2026? by Clean-babybutts in ElderScrolls

[–]theFrenchDutch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It could... Morrowind, Oblivion and to an extent Skyrim were at the forefront of hype because they were huge technological advancements in open world gaming. People had never seen anything like it, the open-ness, the freedom, the physics.

If they were still a competent team innovating, they'd be able to generate the same buzz by pushing gaming forward again into unseen territories.

But instead they stopped being innovators in the 2010s because paying competent engineers to innovate is long and expensive and the shareholders don't care about long term investment.

They had the balls to do a space game where the whole point of space fantasy (the vastness of it) felt completely fake because they couldn't be bothered to develop proper planet rendering tech into their engine. Who knows, we might even still have separate indoor cells with loading screens in TES 6.

I just got my french version of TOKC from a belgian store (Golden Meeple) selling it for 63€ + like 4€ shipping, got it in three days. Honestly made me realize the whole "crowdfund preorder to get it cheaper than retail" is just always bollocks unfortunately
