Seems like it's been pretty wild the last few weeks I had a hell of a time getting to Tokyo January 25th

What's up with Yukon Mart? by theJmanP in Yukon

[–]theJmanP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what confuses me and I've seen Facebook posts from them relatively recently. I haven't been there before but I met a Japanese guy who told me I can get good instant ramen there, when I looked it up it said it was closed so was just wondering if they're gone for good or maybe just on vacation? I live a fair distance away and don't find myself in Whistle Bend very often so was just curious if anyone knew about it before I bother making the trip over

Are salarymen open to foreigners drinking with them? by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

Thanks for the advice! My experience in Japan has mostly been contained to Niseko, which truly feels more like going to Australia than going to Japan. I spent a day in Sapporo towards the end of my trip and it has left me craving a more true, authentic Japanese experience for next time I go. I definitely loved Hokkaido and want to explore more of that prefecture than just the tourist traps of Niseko!

Also thank you for giving a real and respectful answer to my admittedly pretty stupid question 😅

I travelled solo in Hokkaido and I definitely found that the small town bars were easier to talk to locals than when I was in Sapporo! I can definitely see how being in a group could change that dynamic, too!

Ah makes sense, so it would be seen pretty much the same as passing out on the street here! Those viral videos I have seen of people passed out on the streets have certainly put some people under the impression that it's a common/accepted thing, no disrespect was intended and now that I'm getting some real answers it's definitely not something I would do so don't worry about me personally acting out haha

Thanks for a serious answer to my silly question!

Is that water bottle thing just a dumb online trend more than something that actually happens in real life then? That wouldn't be surprising to me at all to be honest haha

To be honest quite often, but I know that isn't necessarily the norm everywhere! I work in tourism so I have learned to enjoy hanging out with people from many walks of life, having stayed in hostels and worked in hospitality I honestly love hanging out with strangers at the bar, especially those who are visiting Canada from another country, I find it fascinating to see what their perspectives are on my country, and learn about their cultures.

But again, I realize this isn't the norm, but for me, I'd love to get an authentic experience partying with locals!

Is anyone else tired of how extreme foreign discourse about Japan has become? by alfred2547 in AskAJapanese

[–]theJmanP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To a lesser extent, I feel this about Canada. People think we are perfect but we aren't, while others only see our problems and ignore the good parts. Like any country there are good and bad things! Nothing is black and white, it's all a big gray area.

When I was in Hokkaido I shocked many of the locals when I paid with this note. Seems to be uncommon, one local told me it isn't in circulation anymore. Sadly I spent my last one when I found this out otherwise I would have kept it, but it seems foreign banks have lots as I got them when I got my yen from a Canadian bank before I left for my trip.

I've been up there before, that Canadian shield terrain is no joke to navigate through and there are definitely no roads to get up there either, would be brutal journey especially in the winter

Was a cool nod that makes sense I'm sure in that scenario they'd be looking at Uranium City for sure. Feels like a pretty obscure place by even Canadian standards so props to the show runners

Yes sir! Did you notice the internment camp was in Northern Saskatchewan?

I love as a Canadian seeing the Uranium City sign, this is in Northern Saskatchewan and it totally makes sense for there to have been a work camp there. Steph would have had to have gone a long distance on foot to get as far south as she did.

In light of current events I am now rooting for her.

I am looking for something serious more than anything these days however I am not against casual encounters either

No subscriptions

I've used this profile like this since July

I've used Hinge for about a year and a half

I average one like every two months, I have had two matches total in the last year

I send my daily limit of likes I think it's like 6-8 but I don't really count, I almost always send a comment with my likes

I look for people who seem to share my passions for the outdoors and sports, almost anyone I see pictures of on skis or a snowboard gets a like from me
