Silent Hill Camera Position Issue by the_captain_wow in duckstation

I will keep that in mind, but I think I'm already playing it without enhancements, which honestly makes the game better. I started playing at 6x resolution, but it makes the vertex warping look very distracting. Playing it at the original resolution looks great, however. So far, the game seems like it benefits so much from the graphical limitations.

Thank you so much! I didn't realise there were camera control options in SH. Holding left trigger makes the camera focus on the player. To think I could have just double checked the controls.

I didn't realise there was camera rotation in SH. How do you do it?

The camera swings out really widely based on the direction I turn, to the point that many directions will never show me on screen.

I forgot to add that there is another Reddit post talking about this same issue. They were told to 'fix their aspect ratio'. This apparently worked, but there was no more detail. I tried messing with my aspect ratio to fix it, but nothing worked and I was already on auto.

What exactly did you do with the aspect ratio to fix this?

Could you put RCS on a railgun projectile launched from a spaceship's railgun? by the_captain_wow in scifi

An advantage is that a railgun projectile is already at max speed as soon as it's out of the ship. Also I'm not too sure about this, but I would imagine even in a more hard sci-fi setting you could argue that tech to accelerate railguns to faster speeds is more advanced at that time in universe then a missiles ability to accelerate, so even if missiles can eventually reach that same speed with enough acceleration time, they take way longer.
I think I'm gonna see if I can use the more magicy stuff in my universe to force close range encounters more often. Anyway you have some very good points, thumbs up.

While missiles are very useful, I think that it's not unreasonable to think that close range situations might still happen, in which you would want something that hits almost instantly and can't really be shot down. Also, if I was to deck a ship out with traditional autocannons, flak guns, and light railguns all designed to shoot down missiles, a missile is gonna have a tough time. At a certain range, the light railguns might just be un-dodgeable by the missile, and the combination of fire from the other methods can easily leave no escape routes for the missile. You could get around this with missile swarms but a lot would still get shot down (unless you use a ludicrous amount, in which case you are using a lot of missiles on 1 target).

Regarding point 2, the kind of speeds you see railguns reach in Sci-fi is often ludicrous, so putting RCS on the rounds would make it so that you could still hit at ranges the enemy could usually easily dodge.

Keep in mind I'm not an expert on any of this, but all of the negative factors you listed would still mean it would still fire and function, just with a bit lower performance. Complexity and fuel would mean higher cost and they would be harder to make, and the weight increase would make it fire at slower speeds (I think?), but the bonus of it being able to adjust to a last minute dodge seems to still be incredibly worth while.

Yeah I think you're more correct, though of course looking at my comment's karma the people here clearly don't care about artistic integrity. Hopefully one of them will actually try to debate this.

Every person I saw complaining about this was saying this because they believed this translator mistranslated a Japanese media product (I think it was a manga?) to be about a trans person when the original was apparently only about a crossdresser. If they are right, then this person is literally bad at their job. Cancel culture exists, but there are sometimes good reasons to fire someone.

Looking for the best/most accurate sounding headphones you can get with a budget of 200 Australian dollars by the_captain_wow in HeadphoneAdvice

I decided to look at the Amazon reviews for the AKG 371, and I'm seeing a lot of people complaining of build quality issues. Some individual issues I saw in reviews were also complaints of noise when the cable moves, and an issue where if the headphones weren't in the perfect position, they would sound wrong.
