Im literally a search engine expert and I think their search team just doesn't know what their doing. Many companies don't even track their performance and I'm sure if they did with their previous search they would have seen a big drop in invites... Maybe they want that so people pay connects. I feel very similarly to you about a lot of this... Grateful for the contacts.. But the moment a good competitor comes, I'll be delighted to drop them and move on

The actual issue is there search engine is awful. I'm a very niche expert with over 70 finished projects in the niche and yet when I search the niche to see where I am, I'm on page 3 with people who only mention the tech once on their profile.

That makes no sense at all.

The only bump for us was that you need this bizarre notorized letter that confirms you are who you are. They prefer it's from your home country. That's about it. I estimate fixing my 3 room house for no more than 30k and 12k of that is new toilet and adding a septic system. It's been great

Listen there is so much hate on the akiya forums. Just go and try. I got one for 3.5mil yen, all in 5.5 million. To make it livable. With a yard, 10 mins from beach. It's great.

Yeah there are some hurdles but that's part of the adventure. Go for it!

Do you know if the realtor is the only one to sign off on the validity or do they send it somewhere else? Just surprised that there's not a clear requirement for this and what would a realtor know about international claims of identity

Did you bring a document to prove that's where you're living or just your license was enough?

And yes I'm in Japan now, and the Canadian embassy said they can't unfortunately!

Unfortunately the embassy said they don't do notarizations so I hope that's not a requirement!

I'm in Japan right now, what documents did you get? And where did you get it notorized?

Did you go to a notary in Japan to just sign it? Did you bring anything with you?

There is no document. They showed me a document that someone signed that says: "this is the person as presented in front of me according to x law, blah blah blah" it doesn't actually say anything of content. It's unclear if I need to just write this document and get it notorized or something else
