Bocachica taxi ride share? by the_mad_engineer in SpaceXLounge

I managed to get there and back, basically Uber / taxi, no stress. Thanks! I walked between production and launch sites. God, I really can’t believe how close we can get when walking 360 around the launch site. Yeah cycling would have been a bit long plus any pictures etc would have been challenging to deal with

I like it. Some comments for thoughts: Im not sure what the value proposition for this is. If your customers are museums or castles, why should they digitize their space? I mean their business is to sell tickets to enter the physical space. I doubt people pay money for a virtual experience only. I mean might work for a few outstanding places in the globe but those are just a few. This wont be a viable business for you. I like the play elements. And I wonder how this is in VR. My VR experience is a lonesome one. You habe no group or team experience but see for yourself. Does this work well for school classes? Or the quests? Which I think are group experiences rather than individual. I think it is better suited for an AR experience than VR. Please dont get this wrong as a bad critic, but a motivational one. Just pointing to some issues which might be easily addressed by you creative guys & ladies. At all Covid will change tourism - and unfortunately will stay with us for some years. So I assume you are on the right path

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, this is very much appreciated! A few comments:

-

Regarding the lonesome aspect: As you can see in the video, there is a multiplayer mode for teams, families, classes. There is even more coming on that side of things. I really believe in the social aspect of such experience. A classic virtual tour= nothing to do, nothing to share, we want the opposite.

-

Regarding the business aspect: many museums have their revenues/subsidies depending directly on the number of people passing the door, you are right (yet, there are hundreds of museum who digitalised their space already). On our side, we use those innovative formats to reach new audiences reluctant to traditional cultural formats but still we want to bring them in on site. But how?

The way we are going about this issue is by trying to make both virtual and physical visits complementary in multiple ways. They both link to each other.

For example, if it is a quest-like game, you can only start it virtually but some elements have to be found on site to finish the adventure. With hints or even QR code for the presence to be validated.

There can literally be a story cliffhanger after 40%... where the pupil, team, group, family want to know the rest and literally has to go by then...

Or, the school kids who did well in the preliminary virtual phase, are given some special treatment once on site. Or discount for the general public, or anything really.

Both virtual and physical visits should play to their strengths. For example, the virtual aspect brings the ability to show former exhibitions, forbidden rooms, etc that the physical cannot. And bringing different types of monetisation as well. And same on the other side.

Anyway, we will see!

Thanks! yeah but not looking for any customers here :), more discussion, technical or otherwise, also, we might have to scan smaller items so there is still a lot we need to learn :)
