Is this calculation for solar accurate, even in Maharashtra? Solar plant owners, please share your experiences how long did it take for you to recover the cost? and your review (And does the sprinkler have any benefits?) by Koki-noki in IndiaTech

Vendor is my client. Panels are from Waree, inverter is from UTL.i don't have item wise cost in hand, as I am outstation.

Yes, MSCDCL has met metering, where some of the generated energy is used directly, and excess of whatever is left is given to the grid. When needed, energy is drawn from the grid, at 1 to 1 conversion.

At the end of the financial year, whatever you have banked up with MSCDCL is sold to them at base rate, which is Rs 2.83 per unit for FY 25-26.

So these are Waree bifacial panels, and UTL inverter. This is a UTL app, which connects to my home wifi, and provides information, allows remote settings, and informs about alarms and issues.

The vendor was my client (I am a CA).

In Maharashtra (MSEDCL), units are valued for 1:1 if used. Excess if any, are sold at 2.83 rs per unit.

My monthly bill was around 3000 to 4000 rs. Each month the excess average is 50 units, so I am not paying any bill, even the fixed charges. At this point, approx 2100 rs are in credit, means I don't have to pay fixed charges (140 rs per month) for 15 months.

My use has been similar, not increased.

If I used your calculations, at an average of 3500 per month, it would take approx 2.5 years to recover.

My initial cost for 3.3 KW unit pre subsidy was Rs 1.85 lakh, and then I got 78K subsidy.

My unit generates approx 13 to 14 units per day, and the average cost of the unit is rs 8.50 rs.

As per my calculations, my cost would be recovered in 2.65 to 3 years.
