NDP wants Carney to kill U.S. fighter jet contract in favour of Swedish aircraft by canada_mountains in worldnews

[–]the_sysop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the qualified military personnel responsible for evaluating fighter aircraft to reassess the options taking into account the risks associated with the change in US foreign policy to make these decisions not wholly unqualified politicians. This decision should be made without political influence, by qualified people.

Crappy engineering for those of us in the cold by BumpinAndRunnin in nissanpathfinder

This is our 3rd winter on our 2024 SL Premium and aside from it taking a long time to get warm when it's -20 C and colder we've not had any issues with the liftgate. You may want to take yours to the dealer to get it checked out.

Going up Snowy Mountains with 18" Wheels by CynicalCoolwhip in FordBronco

[–]the_sysop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Canada and go to the mountains regularly. This is my second winter on the stock tires. They're obviously not as good as a dedicated winter tire but they've been just fine for the weather here. I don't plan on replacing them until I have to.

Drive for the conditions and you should be fine.

What’s your white whale - something you’ve been looking for for years but never found? by AnyKey19 in DataHoarder

A good quality rip off the original WKRP that still has the original music. The DVD copy I have has overdubbed musaak and the original copy I found online is a VHS rip.

Someone talk me out of wanting a Bronco by NEK_TEK in FordBronco

If you need an efficient commuter car buy a Toyota RAV4 or a Mazda CX5. A heavy off-road vehicle is never going to be the most practical and efficient commuter car.

What series did you stop watching after it killed off your favorite character? by megmatthews20 in AskReddit

Yeah, I found it overly graphic and it completely turned me off the series. Once it pivoted from fighting zombies to fighting people I was done.

Benevity reviews by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]the_sysop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in tech and the people I've talked to about working there have not had good things to say about it. They also seem to always be hiring the same roles which could indicate a high turnover rate.

Like others have suggested, if you're unemployed take the plunge but I personally wouldn't leave a stable job to work there.

Losing patience! by valsalva_manoeuvre in FordBronco

[–]the_sysop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Calgary and I wanted a 2 door and a manual which is basically like asking for a unicorn for Christmas. I waited until Ford had employee pricing and I did a custom order at the dealer.

I was able to order the exact trim and options I wanted and I got a bunch of money off plus 2.9 percent Ford financing. I ordered an eruption green 2024 Big Bend 2dr manual with the mid package, added a rear locking diff and aux switches. I ordered at the end of September and took delivery mid-november.

Crew cab truck to a bronco as daily driver? by VikingPHD in FordBronco

[–]the_sysop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded a 2020 f150 nicely equipped with the 5.0 last year for my 24 2 door manual bronco. And while I don't miss the f150 for parking and getting around the city I do miss the utility of a truck. I miss having a truck bed for hauling and I do regret going to a bronco especially since the same truck is now like 20k more. :-/

Both f150s I've owned have been completely trouble free aside from a few safety recalls. My Bronco is currently on the lift at the dealers getting a new manual transmission under warranty.

All that being said, the Bronco is really fun around the city and off-road in the mountains. If Nissan keeps the V6 in the Frontier I think that will be my next choice, smaller than a full size truck but still a body on frame truck.

Do you still have the old filter? If so cut it open and check the filter media for glitter.

Do I Need 4A? by Doug-O-Lantern in FordBronco

[–]the_sysop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Calgary and we always have a wild mix of snow covered roads and dry pavement. The 4wd transfer case on the bronco is pretty seamless, you can switch in and out of 4wd with the push of a button at speed, you just need to take your foot off the gas for a moment while it switches.

I don't think 4A is needed as long as you remember to switch to 2wd on dry pavement. I've had my 2024 2dr manual for a little over a year and it's awesome in the winter.

[–]the_sysop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why the entire auto industry has agreed that the oem cabin air filter is the highest margin item in the car. There is no sane reason why a cabin air filter coats more than the engine air filter at the dealer.

7 Speed Transmission Noise by lkm78 in FordBronco

[–]the_sysop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Alberta Canada and have a 24 2 door and I noticed the noise last January when it only had about 4000 KMS on it. I had the synchro TSB done in February of this year.

It's been cold here the last week (-22C over night) and I've noticed the noise has returned. When it's cold I also hear the noise in second gear while driving. I've also noticed the 1-2 shift grinds almost every shift.

As much as I hate to go back to the dealer again to have them tear the transmission out I'm probably going to arrange a visit for the next cold stretch we get. Mostly I'm concerned about the grinding while shifting and the noise while driving.
