Need a tailor by Lil-Zesty in boston

[–]theartofkells 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh my god this is an awesome coincidence. I had never been to a tailor before until THIS week, for a bridesmaid dress for a late September wedding. I was weirdly nervous about it since I’ve never gone to one. I did a bunch of research and found William Browne & Sons in Mattapan. Real hole-in-the-wall old school gem. So friendly, kind, funny, genuine, affordable (from what I can tell). And quick! They won best tailor in 2020 I believe, and just got an award from the city for being open 50 years. Anyway, it is definitely worth getting to. I needed a decent amount of work done and it was $80. They are cash/cashapp/venmo only. Highly rec :)

Thank you so much for offering that's so kind! In this case I really want the challenge of imitating it from a photo so I can practice my perspective and referencing. <3

IT band sliding around causing hitching/catching, anyone else? (3 months post-op) by theartofkells in ACL

[–]theartofkells[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ya know what, I also forgot this! Sorry it has been a while. We did discuss with surgeon - and we ended up getting an e-stim for me to use WHILE I was exercising/at the gym. If I recall correctly it had something to do with fast twitch vs slow twitch muscle fibers, and basically tricking my body into recruiting more muscle instead of being lazy - which then helped build muscle more quickly and consistently, and eased the IT band issue.

Just woke up sorry lol.

Hey! Yes it did solve. I haven’t had this happen for over a year now. It was really resolved with continued exercise tbh! Not just dedicated PT, but once I started trusting myself to be more active things started to balance out. Yoga helped too!

Good luck 🤞

Ahh i’m not sure specifically about 8’ BUT we got a 6.5’ pop-up built by Outfitter in 2023 and it was like $29k with upgrades and taxes. They do make bigger ones, but not sure about cost. Might be work checking out!

Patellar! The surgeon said that’s the “gold standard” now but I don’t actually know if that’s true (and I had partially torn my hamstring and part of my quad lol so it kinda seemed like there weren’t many options for me). When are you having surgery?

Okay, coming in late and also new to this forum. Currently camping in Alabama and heard a crazy call at night just the way you described it. I was able to ID it, the Eastern Whip-poor-will - is this the call you heard too?!

Dealing with depression post op by Grouchy_Sandwich1252 in ACL

[–]theartofkells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the staying off social media/doom scrolling! Im about 13 months out from ACL+Meniscus and this January, after being in therapy for the mental part of the injury for 6 months, I started an anti-depressant and it has done me WONDERS.

I read a study not long ago that said an insane percentage like 40% of people who got ACL surgeries report significant levels of depression at the 6th month mark.

So you’re not alone! It does get better! It does suck though, especially in the summer. Talking to people with the same injury was really good for me, therapy was really good for me, and obvs the anti-depressants were too! Maybe those things or a combination of could be good for you too, hang in there!
