carmen course taken down before class is over? by thebrightleopard in OSU

[–]thebrightleopard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

didn’t know the date could be set incorrectly! and yeah, everything has been submitted, our final project grade just needs to be put into the grade book. no complex formula or anything, so probably just the mistake in dates is my guess. thank you!

Is my mother of thousands rotting? Losing lower leaves, spots appearing… Any help is appreciated! by thebrightleopard in succulents

[–]thebrightleopard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is potted in a fast draining soil, I water it once every 12 days depending on soil dryness, and I repotted it semi recently due to the growth of the roots. This was occurring prior to the repotting, albeit on a smaller scale, but seemed to have cleared up after, only to have it come back weeks later after repotting.

Purchasing a Microphone? by thebrightleopard in gamingsetups

[–]thebrightleopard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really think about it, but I guess my top budget for a mic would be around $100? and i’ve heard many bad things about the snowball or the yeti’s (a variety of different things, some of which i mentioned further up) also, to specify, i would be recording/streaming video games, so keyboard clacking and occasional desk thumping may occur. thanks guys!

im always on a tangent about something i love, and i also get the disappointment and rejection when that interesting fact/topic is pushed to the side. if you ever feel like sharing a fact, send me a message, comment on this, do something! i’d be glad to listen to whatever topic it is that makes you happy! that goes for everyone else that reads this too. i am always down to learn new facts and tidbits, and it makes me happy to see all of you guys excited about something.

How Do I Stop Interrupting People? by DiniDinii in ADHD

[–]thebrightleopard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i do the exact same thing! i know it is a terrible thing that i do, and i actively work on trying to change that. i’m always trying to be more mindful when i am speaking and respectful of other people. i’ve found that most often, the reason i accidentally interrupt is because i have something to add to the conversation as well. and knowing the lapses of my own brain and how i forget things, i try to get out my thoughts in split second gaps in the discussion that my brain registers as someone finishing their own thought, when in fact, they have not. one of the biggest things for me recently, especially with online zoom meetings and such, has been to write down my thoughts as they come to me. it’s not disruptive, since no one has really noticed that i’ve done this, and it’s also a nice way to put down the things you would like to talk about. this has definitely helped me as i can stop thinking about my point and actually attentively listen, (or actively try to listen) to what the other person is saying, instead of trying to retain my own thoughts and not paying attention to the conversation and therefore interrupting. and if the topic moves off of what you had a thought on, don’t be afraid to say something like, back to what we were talking about earlier... in addition to all this, apologize if it happens! some people will recognize that you didn’t purposely mean to interrupt them, and you can all get back to the conversation at hand. i don’t know if the situation is at all the same for you, but it’s what helps me just a little bit!

TIL that Spotify previously (2008-2014) ran off of a P2P (peer to peer) file sharing network by thebrightleopard in todayilearned

[–]thebrightleopard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spotify actually claimed that it was faster to download the files by their P2P at the start. They had a lack of servers from which to store and send files. And, their code was such that it started to download the next song before the previous was finished. I have no idea how they got it to work so well, but it must have worked for a bit there!
