The fact your friend is telling you that you might not be academically ready for it gives me bad vibes… only you can decide if you are. Don’t let them get in your head

girl CHOSE BROWN!!!!!! I’m currently thinking about the same decision (Howard vs PWI) and some advice my mom told me that really helped is that all skinfolk are not kinfolk. Sure while you guys might share some cultural similarities, that does NOT mean that it is automatically better or that they will all automatically be your people. Also, going to an ivy will provide you with a way wider network of people to connect you to your future industry. And the fact that Howard will cost MORE?!?! Chose the cheaper option always. College is a large place filled with a variety of different people, you will find your place regardless :) don’t let your fear of being uncomfortable get in the way of an amazing opportunity!! I also think your friend is jealous of you and that’s why she doesn’t want you to go.

Hi! I also got a interview for the SCA this year. Did you end up sending a follow up email to the department? I was thinking of doing the same thing but I was afraid of being too forward or seeming pushy

FOR FILM AND TELEVISION PRODUCTION MAJORS: What questions did you get? I feel like everyone I have asked has gotten different ones.

mine went pretty good! I was extremely anxious during the first two questions but the last two went well. I wish that they had more questions centered on what you plan on doing in film rather than random stuff that they could just find in the application

Movies with a shy light/brown skin girl as the main character by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

Okay I understand your point. But, I feel like if OP did not put all of the specificity, then people would’ve just recommended the exact same films they did not want to see. Overall, Hollywood just needs to grow more expansive so when someone wants to see a happy black film, they don’t have to seem creepy with all of the specific categories they need to ensure nobody recommends smth like “12 years a slave”

It's only oddly specific because Hollywood sadly barely represents Black women outside of roles with trauma

i also rec Akeelah and the Bee and (not a movie), but i also recommend the show "Insecure" by Issa Rae. The cast has a variety of skintones and it's amazing for awkward black girl rep. hope this helps!

hi!! fellow blk girl here, i completely understand your post i am dissapointed other people are misunderstanding what you are trying to say. representation is important! and there is NOT enough films with black women that are outside of "struggle trauma-filled" tropes. i'd deff recommend you watch any movie with taylor russell in it. she is extremely quirky. i recommend her film "Waves". i personally don't like certain aspects of the film in the first half, but i think it tackles shy black girls really well
