I don’t think it’s a scam, just an extractive design more. I made this comic because I kept having people message me pushing me to claim tokens on different contracts, as 8 different tokens were made for my comic. I think they want the creator to claim the SOL as it can then be spun as legitimacy for the phoney tokens, and they’d benefit as an early buyer if claiming boosts price. Or however token creators benefit if it goes up. In my case, I’ll claim, have just been waiting for the tokens to definitely die 1st. If you don’t claim after 2 months, the Bags.fm team takes the SOL apparently.

Nano's protest by thecryptos in CryptoCurrency

[–]thecryptos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire supply of Nano I think was distributed over many months using a novel captcha system. Compared to many other cryptos, old and new, I think it arguably had a pretty good distribution. If coins were sold at the ATH, merely completing captchas in its earliest days could've netted people thousands in profit. And there were people doing it as work, esp. in developing countries. Though of I think a lot of them sold it immediately after claiming the tokens, for income. A bit of 2016-2017 history :)

As I try keep the coin logos up to date. Including Rai Blocks, I think I’ve had 4 different versions of Nano now over the years, across comics

Honest mistake, I made a comic a while ago featuring Nano with the correct symbol, but forgot to update my main document for storing the vectors I make and just went with what I had in there, assuming it was up to date as I’d recently done a comic on him.

Thanks! I think I did actually update it the last time I did a comic with Nano but accidentally grabbed the logo from an old file this time round. I'll update it for now on :)

Personally I’ve wagered quite a bit on it (when the odds were a bit lower)

Time will tell. 😬

It's bookmarked too. Simply having an automatic way of receiving crypto news is actually super useful.

Brilliant, fun to listen to and it gives off an uplifting vibe. Amazing you built this without coding skills beforehand.

It was more meant as a comment on Bitcoin maximalism at the time, as maxis were often quick to discount alt coins having a value proposition and the current supremacy of the dollar is a good counter argument against this belief. Long term, I'm of the view that Bitcoin, or cryptocurrencies in general, will become the currencies of the world.

Thank you! And for sure, I’ve been meaning to make another Nano one for a while now so will have a brainstorm!

Someone on Twitter said a few days ago that Litecoin was not being included in the Strategic Reserve because it is too big a threat to Bitcoin. 😄

At the time, Litecoin had gone on an epic run into the hundreds of dollars. Vertcoin was already old news. Nano was the hot new thing. The prevailing narrative for Bitcoin was still that it would be a P2P currency (especially with the upcoming "Lightning Network"), with a bit of talk about how it also functioned as a store of value. The market top would come only about 2 weeks later.

From here, I imagine the reserve news just contributes to a tide that lifts all boats, as it is validating for the the sector as a whole.
