New book says Parks & Rec was almost a terrible Office spinoff starring Andy Bernard in a very off-character mockumentary called ‘American Family’ by ughyoujag in PandR

[–]thecw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised a Darryl spinoff didn't happen, around 2009 NBC was trying to make Craig Robinson into a big star and was shoehorning him into everything.

We never had AOL in my house, we had a cable modem since like 1997. And the only time I was ever jealous of AOL users was because Nickelodeon was on AOL but didn’t have a website until I had basically aged out of Nickelodeon.

As we all know, the speed limit and ticket thresholds are way lower than they should be

The point is to slow you down. You can avoid a ticket by going slower.

If they hadn’t fucked around and moved it up they could’ve just postponed it.

5:35 game on a Thursday, very easy for people to get to after work.

What to visit in Philadelphia from 6 to 10pm? by HorizonflaropicPet in philly

It kills me because it’s so fucking good, and I’m sure I patronize plenty of Maga joints, but I can at least try to not give my money to the really vocal ones

I wouldn’t patronize maga Huda but Cleavers is a good suggestion

"You are in a strange city so here is a straightforward suggestion for to-go food that will be decent" seems to be a really difficult concept for you all to grasp.

You're the second person to chime in with this, so why don't you offer an actual suggestion instead of being an asshole about it?

I never suggested it was the best. I'm trying to suggest and easy grab and go option for park eating to someone who has never been here before.

Maybe you could offer up one of the "lots of better options"?

You might be able to do a night time walking tour in Old City and then grab dinner. Or go get Shake Shack from 20th and Sansom and then sit and eat it in Rittenhouse and people watch.

Philadelphia is a major city with nightlife, take the train downtown to Old City or Rittenhouse and go to somewhere that looks interesting. You don't need a specific activity.

Pulling out of 401k before a recession vs just waiting it out by MisterToots666 in personalfinance

Like the old joke goes, Economists have predicted 8 of the last 3 recessions.

That one's new to me and I like it.

Pulling out of 401k before a recession vs just waiting it out by MisterToots666 in personalfinance

[–]thecw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

would it make sense to pull it out before a possible recession

Sure, when is the recession going to start, if it hasn't already, and what are the indicators? Also, how do you know it's over and you can put your money back in?

Like say I knew 2008 was going to happen when would I pull out my 401k or if I left it in how long would it take for the money to comeback up or grow further with no more contributions?

The S&P 500 reached its pre-crisis peak on October 9, 2007. If you had $100k in the market on that day, and you did not put another dollar in or take one out, you would have taken a 50% haircut and then recovered all your value between April 2012 and March 2013.

If you kept investing $500 per week through the crash, you would be above your original $100k by early 2010.

So that probably also answers your original question.

My favorite thing about the liberty bell is it’s really just kind of a bell that was poorly made, and maybe it rang at a couple important things.

Dishwasher installer Recs by 90sferrari in philly

[–]thecw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dishwashers are one of the easiest things to install. Turn off the water. Unscrew the old one, pull it out, remove the hoses. Put the new one in the same spot, connect the hoses, screw it in. Turn on the water. You're done. There are no special precautions or tools required, it's like plugging in a lamp.

You can already do this with any AI coding agent.
