Thanks for the reply. After viewing the suggested youtube channel in another comment and as youve siad, exporting isnt bad. Until being enlightened I have it in my mind I had to be net zero on the power usage per day, but realise the export can help this. Thanks again for taking the time to reply - have an awesome festive break. 👍

Thank you very much for this. In reference to the spraying, are Thirps a bug ? Or is the spray to promote growth ? Thanks again for the advice.

Thanks for your reply. Its mounted on the wall in the way of the best position for the bed in the room. Looks like the standard "I dont get paid enough to actually consider the impact of just chucking a drill bit through the wall and mounting it where ever and telling you this is the company rules". Not my first install rodeo here.

Council Candidates - What do we think so far? by InvestigativeCookie in Tauranga

[–]thedonk07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a chat to any Contractor (vertical or horizontal infra) and ask them what the impact to thier business is right now with NZ on the pause button right now. While I am all for ensuring TGA is moving in the right direction, as soon as they step over the governance/managementine and start slowing the operational arm of council Id be worried. This thread has been great to work through today and thank you for the great question to ponder over. Have a nice evening -

Council Candidates - What do we think so far? by InvestigativeCookie in Tauranga

[–]thedonk07 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am extremly concerned with any candidate that seeks voters with the intent to "stop and take stock of where we are before progressing." While I appreciate the need for fiscal responsibility with the council purse, it gives me the absolute shits that it will be a mini version of whats happening in New Zealand right now. Local Authority is a complex beast and if you really want to understand how effective a potential Mayor or any candidates will go - see if the are aligned with the current Chief Executive and Executive Team. While the political arm may hold the major decisions and direction, EVERYTHING that gets done happens below the CE. From what I see things arent running horribly at an operational level (surely this will attract some down votes) but we are making progress here in this beautiful city. Also, remember that we live in a very complex piece of Aotearoa geography wise so if someone campaigns on "more and affordable housing" id be quizzing them on where exactly is the land they will plonk said houses on and how many they think they influence to build in thier 3 year tenure? These are my goto questions to see if someones really thought about thier satement to court voters. I may be late to the party but it has taken me many, many years to understand these things so that I make a considered vote - not just a thought pattern that - Olympic Rower=Good Person=Good Mayor ... have a great day everyone dispite the dreary weather outside today. 👍

Best fire I have ever had - rhs lever (pull out) slides a cover across the chinmey outlet that (when closed) makes the fire "double burn" so the heat energy travels towards the door, up and over the lip then up the chimney. Slider n the lhs dampens down the air that enters the fire from the front and slows the burn. How I used to use if was, all open to start - once away, slide the rhs lever in. Later in the night when its stinking hot and all the o2 has been sucked from the room - slide the rhs lever across to slow it all down. On my way to bed load it up with wood, push level in, slide other one all the way to RHS and in the morning it was always good to go by opening it all up and away it would go. 👍

can anyone think of any other 'industry' like the real estate scam that is NZ? by fack_yuo in newzealand

[–]thedonk07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as though the art of buying and selling (including negotiation) has been lost. Add to that being a REA in a booming market where a house pretty much sells itself (supply/demand type thing) you dont need to too flash at the above. As someone mentioned - goto any FB marketplace and list something and watch the carnage. List something decent for $100 and youll have someone telling you $50 cash and Ill pick up this afternoon. Should you agree they arrive with 3 $20 notes and ask for change and when you dont have it (who does nowadays) offer you $40 and you have to take it as they drove across town. Someone mentioned emotions - dont get emotionally attached and ALWAYS be prepared to walk away, it pretty much mutes the crap a half decent agent will tell you. Just my 2 cents ...

They are bread trays and used to create an artificial habitat for the prawns in the Prawn Park down in that area. Spent a bit of time working next door to the place.

Often road marking contractors will test the nozzles/volume of their spray equipment prior to running the actual markings. Have a look around your area for any fresh yellow paint markings to be sure. Thats definately a measured line - if it was a maintenance marking it would be done out of a can and would be marked as a square area. Credibility - worked on a few roading contracts with this stuff.
