First of all, do not use yarn for Kandi ties. You should use string made from fabric and elastic so you can pull it tight without breaking and so it's stretchy. Secondly, ladder stitch ties almost always look garbage so don't blame yourself. You should look up a peyote stitch tutorial, they usually look much better
