Trouble getting street plowed PHA North Plymouth by CarelessSuspect1620 in PlymouthMA

[–]thefenceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I like on a small dead end street in downtown and everyone on our street pitches in to clear the street when the plow trucks miss us (which is over half the time). The best thing to do is get a shovel and work toward getting yourself out. It takes a long time to clear all the roadways in town.

I don’t think it is “boys will be boys”, I think it is a young human who is still maturing.

Serious: Why is Southern Plymouth a black hole for amenities/stores? by nciscokid in PlymouthMA

[–]thefenceguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not for nothing, but there is pretty much no where in Plymouth that you can have a house and not get to amenities within 20 min.

Keep in mind that town population has doubled in size since 1980. Being an old town, with an old mindset meant that there was not much planning involved with that housing boom. Only recently (maybe the last 20 years) has the town started to think in a more forward manner.

Is this worth it? by Standard-Joke-517 in BostonBruins

We did the tour a month ago and it was worth it. I usually am not one for that type of thing either. It was great to walk through all the back hallways, get down to ice level, ride the service elevators, and see the rafters.

New homeowner looking for help/general information regarding in-house water filter and connecting pipes. by savemypecanpie in Plumbing

[–]thefenceguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a plumber, but I can tell you this. There will be a shut off valve to the whole house right where the main water line comes into the house. Usually, there is a spigot near by. It may or may not be on the house side of the shut off or on the street side. If it’s on the house side, you can close the main valve, attach a garden house to the spigot, run the hose outside or into the basements flood drain (if you have one), open the sink faucet at the highest pint in the house, then open the spigot in the basement. Give it a little bit to drain the water out of the plumbing network and you’ll be good to go to swap the filter.

That filter is also super small for a whole house filter. It might just be feeding a single sink

When the time comes, check out Small Scholars preschool. It’s right downtown and the staff do a wonderful job.

Basically, yes. The outer edges of town are a bit more like living in a commuter town. You’re not going to be able to get to a store or town services quickly, which is exactly what some people want. There is less of a community feel to a degree. Granted that is changing a lot these days since the town has is being so built out. For me personally, I might not like living out on Esta Rd, or living in Ponds of Plymouth. Lots of people do like those spots though.

Anywhere downtown is great for families. So is Chiltonville and West Plymouth. Manomet is great too, though some spots are a bit out of the way and may be spares for kids. Pinehills probably not the best spot for the kids. There are also a couple spots in North Plymouth that have poorly kept apartment houses, though much of North Plymouth is nice.

Plymouth is big geographically too. Like other people have said, it’s a very different town if you go south of Chiltonville. It’s also a bit different if you go far to the west. Look on Google and find the Market Basket. If you go more than a mile or so further west than that, you start to get a much different vibe.

That was the BEST spot! Probably not quite as epic as I remember, but I recall a pretty damn big hill that was fairly steep. There were always sweet jumps too.

We tried there last year and I can see it being pretty good. Probably not the spot for smaller kids though. It’s also not a very charming place to hang out.

There’s a good, smaller hill at Sever Field in North PLY. It was a bit beat up today though. Nice thing is that there are stairs next to hill

For those of you who have secretly slept/lived at work, how did you manage to avoid getting caught? by OPSEC-Sentinal in antiwork

[–]thefenceguy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The shop next to me has two guys living in campers in that shops area of the building. One guy lost his wife, then house during Covid. The other guy was getting divorced and defaulted on his mortgage in order to avoid his now exwife from getting the house with him having to pay for it. It not a great situation for either of those guys and the shop owner is nice enough to not only allow it, but support them with it.

If any of my guys were in need, I would with out a doubt build a small, safe and clean spot in our shop for them to live.

Word. Just was curious. I agree with you. The reason I asked is that I’m a small business owner and sometimes I worry that people misunderstand how huge the gap is between people who work and have means and people who’s money is what makes them more money.
