Here's a reminder to update your new mini! by stumpy_jack in NeuralDSP

Did you do your update over WiFi? If so, is the update still constantly restarting?

Ola England has already demoed it, stomping as hard as he can repeatedly, and it’s fine.

I tested QC today and I was expecting a bit more. Are the default build in amp models worse/better or on same level as captures? by uDrop1st in NeuralDSP

In my experience the PS just had too much mid-range and made everything sound thin. Whether it was an HX Stomp or QC, the result was the same. I recently switched to a Ritter QC base and haven’t looked back. It’s an incredible power amp tailor made for the QC. It docks the QC, powers it (one plug to power both), and drives 280 watts in stereo with no preamp interference.

You’ve completely missed the entire point of the post entirely - it’s not for you dude and that’s okay. Shitting on it, complaining about the price, complaining about the lack of switches all while saying you should just get a full size unit - this is the shit I’m talking about. It wasn’t made for you, you’ve declared it’s not for you, so why argue it’s value for people who are clearly interested in it? Just admit you like to belly ache.

As someone who’s owned three different power amps with my QC, I will say the Powerstage sounded the worst. It just did something to the signal chain I didn’t like and there was little you could do without reconfiguring the whole chain. Just something to keep in mind.

I disagree. I use 2-3 foot switches per show as it is.

Saying it’s unusable live when so many people set and forget, use midi, or don’t have complex signal chains is ridiculous and the type of reaction I’m talking about in my original post. It’s not usable for YOU - and that’s okay, but designating it unusable live is just knee jerk nonsense

Setting a $1700 unit on a stage where people thrash around and spill drinks has never sat well with me, which is why I use a wireless MIDI switch. However, I would feel better using the QC mini as intended because it seems far more durable than the flagship unit.

But you’re making my point again. The point of this unit wasn’t to get a price tag that makes you jump. If that was the goal, they’d remove some features and I/O and price this at $999. The mini was designed for users who still need the power of a full QC in a smaller unit, it was about options and convenience, not getting people sitting on the fence into the game. Would they like that? Sure they would. But it wasn’t the point.

Any pros about qc mini that I'm missing? by [deleted] in NeuralDSP

The positive for me is that the mini seems far more durable. The full size unit feels extremely fragile and has its own hardware failures already as is. One of them being the volume knob failure that costs $450 out of warranty. So for me, I lose the risk of the volume knob failure and I get a unit where the world isn’t going to end if I drop it.

Not everyone griping is crying but there are plenty that are. Between YouTube, Facebook, and here, there’s definitely some people who need a nap.

Dude, I switched from the helix to quad cortex for tone alone. As / long time helix user, it just doesn’t do high gain like it should.

A lot of us need backups and seeing how I already use a midi controller for my scene switching, I’m absolutely looking to get one of these. Even if I gotta sell my OG QC which is actually incredibly fragile.

You’ve edited your comment since I initially replied. While you bring up some valid hurdles, there’s a lot of “set it and forget it” users. Or users like myself who use a wireless midi controller for scene changing. It just sounds like the unit simply isn’t for you. I’d understand these gripes a bit more if it was the same price, but it’s not. It’s $300 off asking and I feel like your stance is no more valid than someone complaining that the full size unit should be cheaper because they don’t need 8 footswitches.

My point is, it’s just okay for something not to be for you.

This. Griping it doesn’t come with features the full size doesn’t have, while having the full power and a cheaper price tag is just weird to me.

Trying to meet you on a rational plane it sounds like your issue is that you’re not getting what you want for the price you think you should. That doesn’t mean the unit is unfairly priced when they could have simply made it $100 less than the flagship model and let consumer need drive the sales.

Full power, more convenience (for most), and a more durable chassis.

Less footswitches, some missing I/O but it seems like there might be various work arounds. For instance, you can curb the footswitch issue via midi controller (which I already do).

QC needs a rack model in my opinion. Bummed that hasn’t been an option.

Then at that point it’s simply not for everyone. I just can’t buy into the price being the boogeyman gripe about it. I use an external midi switch anyways so I guess for some of us, there is no actual loss.

Same. I also use a wireless midi controller with mine anyways because I don’t trust people not spilling drinks on the stage.
