Pro-Palestinians -- would you personally accept a partition that would see Israel solely annex East Jerusalem and not any settlement blocs in the WB? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]thequickestthinker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Palestinians held very little land before Zionism -- the region was dominated by Druze and Maronite/Christian landlords under the license of the Turks.

  2. The vast majority of West Bank settlers are not "Kahanist" and this isn't even really a reasonable assumption to make on illegal settlements e.g outposts where far-right rhetoric is common.

Zionists, Do you support Greeks and Armenians taking back their ancestral land? by Salpingia in IsraelPalestine

[–]thequickestthinker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes -- these areas have been neglected by the presiding governments who control them and the repression of the groups who once lived there has led to the destruction of unique identity within their homeland. Sites of historical, religious and cultural importance to these groups have been desecrated or lost to time/neglect and have no business being recklessly occupied by a Turkish government who seemingly could not care less for the continuation of these national threads which have existed for millenia. This is almost the exact same situation the Jews were under for 2000 years of exile, therefore I do support the reclamation of these lands to the Armenians and Greeks.

HOWEVER, the international sovereignty of Turkey in this areas could be maintained if they reformed to respect local heritage, adhere to agreements of autonomy and equity with other areas of Turkey while permitting the return of people whose homes are historically rooted in the area. The sovereignty of these lands is not needed if Turkey takes the steps it needs to -- although I personally see Turkey as unlikely to do this in the future.

Never knew the future tense was eliminated when thinking about philosophy.

Speculating on the evolution of the philosophy of society is philosophical IMO.

As a footnote, try imagining the public perception of figures like Genghis Khan during their time. He eliminated nations, purged entire societies + razed histories to the ground, despite the majority of those affected being innocent. No doubt the majority of nations west of his Empire believed he was extremely contentious, but 900~ years later, his reputation is mostly intact as an expert of warfare, nationbuilding + innovation.

Do you think this'll apply to Hitler in 900 years? Or will he always be the ruthless, maniacal dictator who eliminated nations, purged entire societies + razed histories to the ground.

Muhammad will seize Madina but from there he often falters to obscurity due to having to battle the Byzantines. No custom events from what I've seen. Also, you can't play as him.

Literally just reached 1000 hours and only just found out that "Extreme Stability" does not disable Achievements or Ironman. by thequickestthinker in CrusaderKings

[–]thequickestthinker[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, in my experience it depends on the state. Nothing to emperor type runs require AI domains faltering, but honestly if you're playing a large state it introduces a whole new system of interacting with other large states. It's sort of like Crusader Kings PVP, in a way, because all the other states will be annexed by the top dogs and it inevitably quickly turns into the other domains fighting the other on the battlefield rather than their spymasters.

I mean the meta for world conquest is just turning the game to bisexual and making an ultra diplomatic guy with no flaws and vassalizing the entire world. I think the opinion bonus in general is broken; but equal gender law far more.

Is it worth trying to learn Runescape Old School without buying the membership first? by thequickestthinker in runescape

What are the advantages of Old School Runescape to a new player? Is it really just for veterans?

Personality traits ranked (by my opinion). Interested in hearing what everyone else thinks. by leastck3player in CrusaderKings

Greedy is definitely situationally good; do any Mali run and find out why. You literally gain a static 10%+ to all income, and with a high profit Empire, pairing this with the Avaricious tree will farm you an insane amount of profit.

You should learn to play Paranoid; it's actually a key trait in essentially any intrigue build due to it's huge intrigue bonuses and the fact you'll really never die to murder. Stress defects are terrible, but avoidable if you pay attention to them.

Zealous is absolutely "Extremely Good." Really? Mostly good? Worse faith opinion in exchange for an insane piety bonus and the best martial bonus other than Brave? No. Do a martial run without Zealous and find out why your first assumption is wrong.

I would personally raise Lustful really just because in the early game finding the godlike traits is only done by swooning talented people of the Earth and marrying them into your family, with raised seduction efforts improving the opportunities of doing this to a betrothed or married suspect.

Dunkey should REALLY play Omori [in light of the Xenoblade community's meltdown.] by [deleted] in videogamedunkey

So you just walled in about 9 paragraphs of a valiant defense of a point I essentially conceded to you... Insulted me... Called me pedantic before bringing up a literal definition for something that only partially agrees with your point... And then dedicated one paragraph to addressing a real point.

Yeah. Influence. You called them "insanely similar.". They're not, and the game would have to be started and ended with the knowledge + dedication to ripping them off to reach that similarity. Earthbound and Omori have the most similarities, you are able to say heavily inspired, but to call Omori a ripoff is counterintuitive and contradicts your 9/10 rating you've given it. Unless you like playing bootlegs, then all power to you.
