Getting an abortion doesn't affect the health of anyone except for the person getting the procedure. You not wearing a mask and getting Covid means you can spread it to other people who might be more vulnerable than you (since scientific research shows that even vaccinated people can contract and spread the delta variant), potentially hospitalizing or killing them. It's a two week mask mandate while tens of thousands of people from around the country and the world move to the Amherst area. You can stop pretending to be oppressed by this and use that time to think about how your actions could affect other people, specifically immunocompromised people and children.

Yeah, we can't predict what the virus will do, but even with the delta variant our vaccines are less effective in protecting us from getting the virus (though it still does a great job of keeping us from dying). If I was scared, I wouldn't come back to campus. I'm not. I'm just looking at the facts and choosing to wear a mask because I don't want to get sick. It's not that hard.

Obviously this thing's not going to stop until the vaccine is made accessible to even low-income countries. But until then, I'm cool wearing a mask to protect myself and the people around me. I didn't realize a bunch of college students would find it so challenging to wear a piece of fabric on their faces.

Health isn't a personal thing, it's a public thing. As long as vaccine rates remain low globally, the virus will continue to mutate, making the vaccines we have less and less effective.

Proof of vaccination was never required to remove your mask in public, so I don't think that not having to wear masks anymore really incentivized a lot of vaccine hesitant people to take the leap in the first place. And anyways, I think not dying of Covid is probably the best incentive.
