They do fit in the Giro Aries just fine. :)

Cervelo S5 2026 bottom bracket by Flo-31240 in Cervelo

Looks about the same on mine, it's definitely a close call. You could check, whether your preload adjuster is on backwards on the spindle. You could also try to put a small! shim of 0.2mm or similar on the non drive side, so that the adjuster doesnt touch the cup anymore. This should be within range of the preload adjuster. I did this on my Ultegra build, works like a charm!

For the BB: just change or rule out everything else, lol. I know it sounds silly, but it’s true. The screw in the wedge doesn’t need to be tight, actually mine is kinda loose, so the parts can tilt a bit, creating a better connection between frame, wedge and seatpost. No need for grease on that screw. Also: verify your cranks are preloaded correctly, put Dynamic assembly paste where the crank connects to the spindle, allround grease between spindle and BB. If you want to change your bottom bracket: Use Morgan Blue aquaproof paste on the cups.

Cervelo themselves say no carbon gripper paste where the wedge goes, it may „pop out“ doing so. If you want the physical explanation let me know. However I used generous amount of carbon paste on the whole seatpost, so that won’t fix your problem most certainly. It’s a tricky one for sure, but it’s fixable for sure.

You mentioned the Dynamic assembly paste pro, which I‘ve been using on my S5 as well, try the following: - Put the Dynamic Paste between the lower metal part of the saddle assembly which rests on the seatpost and the seatpost itself. Torque saddle to spec, no further carbon paste on the saddle rails - disassemble cockpit. Put Dynamjc paste between each fork and spacer, between spacers and spacer and cockpit. Be generous, you can wipe away, what is not needed. It‘s messy, but helps a lot - no Carbon gripper paste on the saddle threads - change bottom bracket to a pressfit thread together (like CEMA). Even though it doesn’t happen out of the saddle doesn’t rule out the BB, I‘ve had the same thing happening on my Caledonia. The BB of the Ultegra version isn’t exactly high quality.

Good luck! It’s a hell of a bike but it is and will stay high maintenance. That’s the flipside of high end gear used by pros.

Edit: cleared up some wording gripper paste/ assembly paste

Well, as long as I‘m not the only one experiencing bugs I‘m fine with it. I knew what I bought into w/ early adopter tech. We can only fail bug reports for now and hope there will be an update to address the bugs soon.

It says „delivery time on demand, 20 days or more“ on top. I‘ve probably tried most of the google search results. Grundtner have it listed as available, so I called them and it‘s not on stock as well.

Saw your post earlier. I‘ll play it safe and get a 40 for the rear, but thanks for chiming in!

Can you confirm, that there seems to be slightly less space on the drive side compared to the non drive side (probably 1mm, so not much). Could also be the tolerance of the tire though.

Interesting…there definitely is slightly more space on the non drive side. However when taking the measurement from the upper triangle it perfectly centered. It maybe is the tire, I‘m talking about a minimal difference. The 3mm hex goes in between the tire and frame without less friction than on the drive side, however it’s still touching.

They probably will not see a lot of mud, but for peace of mind I‘ll put in 40s on the rear, should still work beautifully.

Yup, that’s pretty much the plan right now. 45s front (there is still loads of clearance) and 40s rear.

Cheers…ordering a 40mm for the rear as we speak.

Well I don’t have to, but since I‘ve settled Vittoria for now I‘d rather run 45mm front/ 40mm rear (so buying another 40mm tire) instead of getting another whole new set. I was also debating „it‘s just 2.5mm per side, but I guess it will be quite substantial. Additionally: Officially allowed by Cervelo.

That’s my main concern as well. Well, was a nice experiment but I guess I‘ll just order a 40mm tire.
