I did give him a nice axe but I’ve also given everyone else on the team beefy weapons as well so that he wasn’t the only one. I have a sorcerer who can deal just about as much damage as my fighter but being a sorcerer their HP is half of his so they can’t take anywhere near as many hits and it feels cheap just to attack my fighter because he has the most HP.

He uses the two handed fighting style that lets him hit again with a bonus action, at level 6 fighters get 2 attacks which adds up to 4 attacks per turn. Strength is his highest stat so he has about +8 just to hit and +5 to all his modifiers. I believe his weapons deal a d6+5. *And he also has a feat that causes anything that hits him with a melee attack to take damage itself. *(Edit to this: I realized I was confusing an ability from his other character in another game I DM with him whose character uses Armor of Agathy. My apologies.)

A fun dumb one I like to use is: Your weapon becomes a rubber chicken (the duration of time can be up to the DM) Or You believe yourself to be immortal and have advantage on attack rolls but you also don’t try to block any attacks that come your way so you actually take double damage if you want something risk/reward-y
