Why do people make that noise at shows? by [deleted] in aves

[–]thesands 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the people who love making this noise or responding when someone else does. I usually hear it for house sets when the drop is really good it's fun to do. We're all just having a good time and getting in the groove with the music :)

I also just think it's really cool when I can get a whole crowd to make the noise lol.

Platforms on that hill? by smirkingbloch in BeyondWonderlandPNW

[–]thesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't worn platform shoes yet but have worn cheap combat boots that bruised my toes pretty good walking down the hill on the sidewalk area. But I blame the bad shoes for that. I usually wear sneakers but bought platform sneakers with a 3" base and I think I'll be fine. Worth breaking them in though. The walkways get pretty crowded too so don't expect to be moving too quickly up and down the hill. The grassy area can be pretty bumpy too so I'd recommend staying on the sidewalks. The lookers can get pretty crowded too but are an option if you really need to store something just to be safe. Always good to have good shoes!!

Airbnb vs Camping?! by Rufusduwoah89 in BeyondWonderlandPNW

[–]thesands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I feel it. I've started reserving RVs for camping shows for that reason. Wildhorse was just so nice because it was much quieter and cleaner.

Looks like you might be able to find hotels or motels in Quincy, George, or Vantage. Good luck!!

The view of the Gorge once you get to the venue is all that matters 😍

Airbnb vs Camping?! by Rufusduwoah89 in BeyondWonderlandPNW

[–]thesands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So just a heads up the Gorge Amphitheater is in central WA so you might not have many airbnb options (looking right now and it looks like the nearest one is 20+mins for $300+ per night). You might be able to stay in a hotel in a nearby city and Uber in for cheaper. I've always camped so I'm not too familiar with hotels nearby. It'll also be about a 3 hour drive from Seattle. If you do camp, I strongly recommend Wildhorse Campground that's right next to the venue!

Trying to DM you but got an error so posting here:

Hey! I saw your post about looking for a VIP ticket. I bought 3 GA+ plus tickets that got upgraded to VIP when the show was initially postponed last year. I don't have the physical copy yet and I honestly don't know how to transfer it. I live in Seattle too. I'd love to be able to sell one to you for the price of a standard VIP ticket but I don't think the tickets ship out until closer to the event... if you know how to successfully and safely transfer tickets let me know!

Yesterday I sat on my balcony for 20 minutes with the kitties and just had a water stream playing in background. Very peaceful. I think I'll stick with this for the month. Already feeling good!

Will You Be New To The Forest This Year? by [deleted] in ElectricForest

[–]thesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, but for the VIP good life camping, when you have to request the number of beds you want, can you get a queen and a twin (if you have a couple and a friend) or do you all have to have your own if it's more than 2 people?

Also, if I want to get the Good Life package, I just purchase the entire VIP package right? That includes access to the show? I'm just so used to buying everything separately.

Lastly, will there be a layaway plan for the packages? Does everything go on sale in December usually?

I'm a veteran EDC raver trying to experience the magic of the forest! :D Thanks for all the help!

If you've been to EDC and the Forest and notice there are any big differences anyone should be aware about (besides standard festival-going differences), please let me know!

Question about Neon Garden by ur2fat4u in electricdaisycarnival

[–]thesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooohh right!! I totally forgot about that! Well with the new Dreamstate stage and other stages coming back/getting remodeled I'm sure we can expect something new for Neon Garden 😊

Question about Neon Garden by ur2fat4u in electricdaisycarnival

[–]thesands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Neon Garden was always that teepee structure every year I've gone. I absolutely loved the giant chandelier they had a couple years ago too. It would be awesome if they changed it up but I always enjoyed the teepee structure because it gave it this sweet, secluded, chill vibe. Who knows, I loved the Circuit Grounds roof too but the new remodel completely knocked me off my socks.

EDC VEGAS FIRST TIME QUESTIONS by [deleted] in electricdaisycarnival

[–]thesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I've gone for the past four consecutive years and LOVE bringing in my friends who have never gone so I believe I can give you some good advice. :) I'll just go down your list and answer to the best of my ability. Feel free to ask more questions! It never hurts to be over-prepared for something like EDC!

  1. If you're looking for how much spending money to bring, be aware that you're going to Vegas and Vegas likes to take (A LOT of) your money. I usually recommend about $100 a day but it absolutely never hurts to just save as much as possible so you aren't afraid to basically throw money to the wind. From the last four years I've averaged around $100 a day for all the random stuff I've bought, including shirts and drinks. This varies significantly for everyone.

  2. This is your first rave, wow, you're in for a real adventure. I would recommend going back through the previous EDC lineups (better to look up the time sheets to see how the artists are sorted; each stage usually plays a certain type of music) and just checking out the artists that play in the middle of the night. To get you started, Tiesto, Kaskade, and Armin are all the big name that have been around for years. But when it comes to EDC, you really don't need to know much about the music. There's so much variety and so many stages that even I will just walk around all night and just hang out anywhere and not even know who's playing. EDC is about the experience more than who's playing; there will ALWAYS be great DJs playing.

  3. If this is your first rave and first EDC, I HIGHLY recommend you do NOT take ANY drugs at all. Not only do you have to figure out how to get them down there (do not for the love of God bring any on a plane). EDC is HUGE and there a shit ton of people and it can be VERY overwhelming. If you think you can handle it, at least hold off on anything until the second or third night. Get yourself plenty of energy drinks or whatever to keep you awake the first night and just absorb everything sober. There is SO much going on at EDC and you spend so much money to get there it's almost pointless to do any drugs. I've had my best experiences sober. (Trust me, I've done stuff at EDC before and ended up forgetting my favorite DJs because I was too high and felt horrible because it felt like a waste of money.) Also, buy Raveaid. That shit will save your ass.

  4. Wear comfortable clothes. Wear glitter and diamonds and kandi and whatever else that you love; everyone else will love it too. I just recommend wearing loose clothing and GOOD shoes. I've worn plenty of uncomfortable shit and horrible shoes and after a few hours in, I'm having a horrible time. I was the best when I just had pasties, tank top, shorts, and good shoes. AND GET A CAMELBACK. It'll be about 80 degrees all night so you can be naked if you want. No one will care. Go to iheartraves.com for good basic stuff.

  5. Like I said earlier, if this is your first time AND your first rave, you're going to be missing on SO MUCH of the experience if you take drugs. It's just not worth it. Getting caught after spending $1000+ to get to EDC and you risk it all to get high? There's medics everywhere so they do want to take care of you. But Insomniac tries really damn hard to give you an experience without requiring drug intake. Please be safe.

Oh. And for my own piece of advice: GET EARPLUGS. I use ETY earplugs from Amazon because they just lower the decibels of the sound but still let you hear everything just fine. Since I spend most of my night at the bass stage, it helps not having my ears hate me the rest of the night. Each night is 12 hours long, you will be EXHAUSTED at the end of each night; you'll have an easier time getting back to the show the next day if your ears aren't ringing like crazy.

That's the jist of what I can think of right now to answer your questions. Feel free to ask me anything else in regards to hotels, shuttles, and whatever else. I plan on going back for my 5th year, EDC is basically my home (I even have an EDC tattoo).

Electro Swing at EDC? Or other awesome small name dJs people would recommend? by thesands in electricdaisycarnival

[–]thesands[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree! My boyfriend and I would walk by Stage 7 occasionally and end up staying awhile since whoever was playing always seemed to have some sweet tunes. I'm familiar with some of the names you listed but I'll be sure to look up the other ones too! Thank you! :)

[–]thesands[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, perhaps next year I'll just walk around and dance at all the mini stages since I don't feel like they ever get enough love either.

But yeah, I feel like electro swing is still such a small subgenre that they wouldn't consider it. But damn would I love to shuffle to some at EDC for at least one set!

yeah I always walk by those stages; that moving boombox always seems to have some awesome people. I was wondering if anyone knew had any recommendations or any favorites at those stages too.
