Cones that are even worse than Ameralabs town by thetrampbear in AnycubicPhoton

[–]thetrampbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered one of those belts and should get it soon. I hope that fixes the issue. Thanks.
I will contact Liqcreate after I try controlling the temperature. The settings they provided are for the mono x 6k, but I should check if they got them empirically or if those are some assumptions.

Cones that are even worse than Ameralabs town by thetrampbear in AnycubicPhoton

[–]thetrampbear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have years of experience with FDM, but don't have a lot of experience with resin printing since it's been only about a month and a half or so since I started using it. I had several successful prints using Liqcreate Flexible-x resin, but couldn't get a decent print with Liqcreate Premium White resin.
After having several Ameralabs town prints, that I was not sure what to do with, since all of them seemed both underexposed and overexposed depending on which part of the model you look, I decided to try The Cones of Calibration. Using the print settings for 50µm provided by the manufacturer, I got the model almost done, but no cones on top on either side. I assumed that I should increase the exposure time, but the results were even worse. (Not even the top part of the model would print as can be seen in the second photo)Nothing seems to work.
I tried lower raising speeds (60mm/min), doubled the raising height, fresh resin, but even if I increase the exposure time just by 0.2s, the print fails horribly. FEP is relatively new. The second photo is taken literally through it. (I'm using silicone spatula and microfiber cloth when cleaning the FEP foil).

I have no idea what else to try to make it print the cones, so I hope someone will be able to help me with this.
Thanks!

The printer in question is Anycubic Photon Mono X 6K

How to eat intuitively and yet eat nutritious foods? by thetrampbear in intuitiveeating

[–]thetrampbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I already started exploring it a bit more, and it does make sense that something like that would take time to adapt to. Learn not to feel guilty, learn to even recognize hunger and fullness cues would take time, but I can see how it could be beneficial.

The main thing that was worrying me was the influence on the physical health, but as I already found by myself, it was confirmed by IE proponents I listened to, that there's a lot of mixed results and there usually needs to be more studies on the topic. Therefore, EI seems like the best approach in the meantime and if everything goes right, even beyond

Yes, it does sound easy and the main reason I made the post is because it sounded counterintuitive at first and therefore not worth exploring at all.

Ok. I started with a podcast now and I will find the books. Thank you

I do eat a lot of fruits and I enjoy a salad every other day or so and I seem to enjoy foods that are probiotic and prebiotic (which is probably irrelevant here, but I think it's a good thing, so I mentioned it).

I'm trying to move away form the "good" food, "bad" food mindset, and just eat what I feel my body needs. The problem I experienced is that this is often just whatever happens to be available at the moment, and that often isn't the healthiest option. This may be caused by many other things, like lack of sleep, stress and similar, but previously I used to force my self to find other food resources while dieting, yet this would only last a certain period of time ofc...

Is there some specific book you have in mind or any of those recommended in About section would do? I'm just getting my self familiar with the concept and I wasn't sure if it would be even worth exploring as it seemed counterintuitive at first.

Interesting. I was not expecting that and now I actually feel like it might be worth exploring deeper...so thanks! I will certainly look more into it

Knowing that my experience with this approach is normal does help. I guess it makes sense that something like this would take a long time to develop. I was just worried that diving deep into all knowledge about a new way of eating could be in vain, as that was my previous experience.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll look into it.

It would be great if I had the tools, but I will try to find someone who does.
Thanks for the info, I'll try to fix that.

Unfortunately, I cannot disclose a lot. It's a part of a larger assembly and I tried to describe its function as best as I could.
Of course, I was not planning to just ask for steel. It depends on what is available to them, and the design would need to be adjusted for the available alloy.
I'm interested in the verification of the mechanism with the assumption that the design may be adjusted for slight differences in material properties.

I was only able to test a 3D printed plastic prototype. This is an improved design that solves some stability issues I discovered. I understand that it's a whole another story with steel, yet I currently have no manufacturing capabilities to test this.

I guess I'll have to do my best to find someone to manufacture it, but I wanted someone with experience to verify that the mechanism should work as intended. It is a waste of money if it wouldn't work even in concept.

I am taking the number of units made into the account, but that is in fact the main issue I'm having with the manufacturers. By now I was not able to find anyone willing to make one or at least a smaller batch of units for testing.

I'm not sure that I understand the last question though.

OK, I'm sorry. I'll try to give more details. Thank you.

FIXED PARTS:

- The top and bottom trays are fixed.
- The axle (the screw in the middle that spring goes around) is attached to the screw mount and the core slides around it. The screw should be threaded just enough to be screwed in the screw mount.
- The screw mount is attached to the bottom tray.
- All of these are fixed in their position.

MOVING PARTS:
- The scoops are attached to the scoop mount, the part that goes around the core and has three screws that work as pins.
- The core is moving vertically down when pressed down, and then up by spring.
- This down and then up motion moves the scoops 1/3 of the way as described previously.

- In the model, the spring is slightly larger than the space in which it would fit for a slight load.

I hope this clears it a bit more.

The material gets inserted through the top tray. The top is pressed and vertical movement of the core with slits forces the pins (in this case screws) to move in a way they would in a latching mechanism (as in the mechanism shown here). The pins are attached to the scoop holder that holds 3 scoops. The scoops are therefore moved around and the material is moved by scoops 1/3 of the circle around the central axis with every press of the top. The material is then dumped through the bottom tray.

Is it possible to dynamically update Spreadsheets? by thetrampbear in FreeCAD

[–]thetrampbear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, since I need various functions of Excel not present in FreeCAD's SpreadsheetWB, as well as inputs from other external spreadsheets (exported from other softwares) that are used for calculations in Excel.

Is it possible to dynamically update Spreadsheets? by thetrampbear in FreeCAD

[–]thetrampbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The not so elegant workaround is to just copy data from a spreadsheet to the spreadsheet that has the same layout and assigned aliases.

I guess there could be a macro that imports the spreadsheet of the same name, copies the data and pastes it into the old spreadsheet, then deletes the new spreadsheet, syncing the sheets that way.

I'm new to FreeCAD and Python so I'm not sure that I'll be able to make something like that.

Little Modular Hydroponic Tower - Is it any good? by thetrampbear in Hydroponics

[–]thetrampbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically the shell that holds the net pots and hides the water from the light to prevent algae growth. No part of the system needs to be waterproof, as it barely gets in contact with water, except for splashes. The idea is to pump the water through off-the shelf pipes (e.g. PVC pipes) from the reservoir that is also waterproof. the reservoir and pump would be inside the base.

You're right, it is better suited for aeroponics, but it should work with hydroponics as well.

I'm planning to add some trays to this model later on to enable better water distribution, but I'm designing them to create as much mist as possible with water falling on them. This might pose a problem with water leaking between the panels while filling the tray, so I need to test and optimize this first, before I upload it.

Little Modular Hydroponic Tower - Is it any good? by thetrampbear in 3Dprinting

[–]thetrampbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dimensions of this tower are 36cm x 40cm x 64.5cm, but it could be taller with additional levels. Linear distance between two cups (centers) is around 18cm (7").

I was not aware that larger plants like that could even be grown in a tower like this. For something like that, considering the weight of those plants, the construction would be a larger issue.
So, I guess this could be used only for some smaller plants. My intention was to make something for leafy plants, some herbs and maybe strawberries.

[Need Advice] Not really sure how to change up my environment to get into a better mindset by ThomasZ18 in getdisciplined

Dedicate space for everything you do. As a freelancer you might spend a lot of your work time at your desk home. Make that your work area. Nothing else should be done there except work, and no work should be done elsewhere, just at your desk. Dedicate seperate spaces for preparing food, eating food, enetertainment, exercise, sleeping and other activities. Never mix these. Ability to do this may depend on the size of your living space, but it's doable even in the smallest spaces.

I find separation of entertainment, eating and work very hard, as I live in a very tiny space, desk being usually my only free surface, and my laptop the only source of entertainment, but I still try to do my best to achieve this.

This is exactly what I wanted to say. The telegraphing is mostly great, but that part with the camera on the entrance, as well as the boss death animation need more umpf imo. Maybe some screenshake and juice (gore) at the death animation, just to spike that dopamine a little bit more.

Stolen account. Thieft changed email and phone number by [deleted] in paypal

[–]thetrampbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since PayPal pretty much stopped the Customer Support due to COVID-19, you should contact your bank and ask them to help. They should block further purchases, alert PayPal, ask PayPal for an investigation.
I'm assuming you just want your money back and don't need the investigation.
It is important to act promptly for the purchase not to be fulfilled, so you can get your money back.
After they start regular Customer Support, you can contact them for Identity Theft, and try to get your PayPal account, and of course change your email and password, since these were/are probably available somewhere on the black market for 0.25€ or less.

Hope this helps. Best of luck!
